Hey guys, I've been playing around with the army builder trying to figure out my first army. Here's what I have so far for 1500 points.

Nob Bikers: 465pts
Warboss: (PK, BP, TL Shoota, Cybork, Warbike)
3 Nobz: (2x PK, 1x Big Choppa, 3x TL Shoota, 1x Waaagh Banner, 3x Cybork, 3x Warbike, Count as Troops)
Painboy: (Grot Orderly, Cybork, Warbike)

Meganobz:375pts
Mega Warboss: (Warlord, BP, Cybork)
3 Mega Nobz : (3x Shoota/Skorcha, Count as Troops)
Battlewagon : (3x Big Shoota, 1x Deff Rolla)

Lootas x10: 150pts

Boyz: 340pts
19 Shoota boyz (2 Big Shootas)
1 Nob (BP, PK)

19 Shoota boyz (2 Big Shootas)
1 Nob (BP, PK)

Big Gunz x3 (Kannons) w/ 9 Gretchen: 69pts (Plan to use extras to man the Quad Gun)

Aegis Defense Line w/ Quad Gun: 100pts

Total: 1499pts.

I was going for a somewhat balanced list that had some good shooting along with some capable CC units. The Lootas and Kannons will be sitting near the back behind the Aegis while the Shoota Boyz and Nobz push up to take objectives and engage the enemy. I'm a bit concerned that my nob squads are a bit on the small size and will be focused down before they can do anything

I wanted to take Mega Nobz because I play Bad Moon Orks and they fit the fluff really well but do you think I should drop them for something else? I'm not sure if 73 models is enough for Orks at 1500pts.

Thanks.

Drop the mega boss and mega nobz
Drop the big choppas and grot orderly from the nob bikers
Drop the big gunz

Add 3 more nob bikers to the nob biker unit
Add another battle wagon and use it and the existing battlewagon to make the boyz mobile.
Add more lootas to get more than 1 unit of them.

Whether going bikes or not is a personal choice and clearly that's Gutstuf's thing and it might be yours too, but if you prefer the green tide I would say choose either the nobz on bikes or the meganobz and then make it a big unit. Having two smaller units means that they wont have as much of an impact and they will not benefit from the mob rule. Any other points you can get from consolidating your nobz would probably be well spent on another armoured target for your enemy to focus on. Having two large units of shoota boyz, some kannons and lootas in the back and then seeing your battlewagon/biker squad, your opponent will probably know to focus fire on that. I would suggest maybe a deff dred, killa kanz, or even a looted wagon. All three are armoured and present their own risks to your opponent and force him to split up his shooting.

Hope that helps!

I could see switching out the meganob squad's battlewagon for a trukk. (MANz Missile).

Overall, 40 boys just does not seem enough if they are slogging. Also they are slogging in a list wher everyhting else is freeky.
By ditching the battlewagon transport you can work on making room for transports for your boys as well if you split the mob sizes in half. Or you can take out a couple units like big guns and the like, to give the boys battlewagons

The reason why nob bikers are suggested so much and not just by myself is because they work well both on paper and the table top. They can hit just as hard as meg nobz, but are more mobile, have more dakka, and can have more saves to improve their overall survivability; while also making sure to adjust their loadout accordingly to the point lvl.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm trying to stay away from a lot of Trukks just from a fluff standpoint so I will probably get rid of the MANz and add a few more bikers and another battlewagon for the boyz. I'd like to keep the Kannons since I ordered some from FW so I will try to save on points somewhere else.

Do you think I should take a Big Mek w/KFF for the pair of Battlewagons?

It can help but at 1500 you can use those 85pts better somewhere else.
