I recently picked up a couple of boxes of Death Company as prize winnings from a league, and now I'm not sure how to outfit them. My army runs a combo of Space Wolves and Blood Angels, with the theme of jumping/dropping in on my opponents. As it stands, I have 3 squads of Grey Hunters in drop pods, a squad of Assault Marines, and a squad of Sanguinary Guard (used to have two squads of Assaults, but the Death Company would replace one). Any thoughts?

My initial thought was to keep it mostly simple, so I put together the first five with 3 bolt pistol/chainsword, 1 power fist, and 1 power sword. I'm considering duplicating that for the second half (going for a 10-man squad). The main idea is to have a bunch of guys at normal initiative to throw out a mess of attacks, a couple of power swords to deal with normal marines, and a couple of power fists for dealing with terminators outside of the mass attacks.

Any thoughts?

Remember to give the powerfist a bolter, DC are relentless so they can shoot the bolter and still charge and since a powerfist is a specialist weapon we wouldnt get an extra attack from having a bolter.

In fact bolters on regular DC are good in general they still have 4 attacks on the charge and they can really lay down some dakka before they charge in or provide some modest ranged fire when not in combat.

Your loadout sounds good, with one suggestion - stick to EITHER sword or fist in 5 men and only use both in larger squads (8+). The DC get expensive quick, more so with jump packs

I wouldn't bother with the other usual loadout of bolster DC in a pod as you already have plenty of Grey Hunters for that.

I have 10 with bolters and 10 with BP CCW, 2 with thunder hammers and 2 with power fists (forgot to model bolters on the power fist guys, will get round to it at one point!

Tempted to do another 10 with jump packs as well

Ha, hadn't even noticed that. Neat.

Any thoughts on gun loadout? Because honestly, I'm always a little wary (especially in 6e) with outfitting a unit entirely with bolt weapons to save points, relying solely on a strong assault to save the day. Is it worthwhile to throw an extra 30 points into two plasma pistols? (I intend to run them in a 10-man squad, so 2's the limit)

I do not find the Plasma pistols worth it. With the short range you are maybe going to kill one to three models an entire game with them.

Taking an idea from the B&C SW forums, I am using BA to represent a 13th Co force attached to my SW. Death Company represent Wulfen in my list due to their special rules. With a unit of 10, I do two axes, two swords, and one thunderhammer.

Attaching a Wolf Priest to them with Saga of the Hunter has my 13th Co Wulfen unit coming in from the flanks and wrecking everything.
