Long time Xenos player starting up some Night Lords. I bought some NL shoulder pads to mix into my units and I want to make sure I'm doing it right.

I don't have the Space Marine codex, I only have the Chaos one which isn't very clear.

For regular Chaos Marines, Space Marine tacticals, and the Cult units (Berzekers, Plague Marines, Thousand Sons, Emperor's Children), the chapter insignia goes on the LEFT shoulder, correct?

For HQ and Terminators, the chapter insignia goes on the RIGHT shoulder, correct?

Which shoulder does it go on for bikes? I can't tell from the Chaos book, but GW's site seems to show them being on the LEFT for Space Marines.

Which shoulder does it go on for Assault/Raptors? GW site shows LEFT for space marines, the Chaos book shows RIGHT for Warp Talons and Raptors.

Which shoulder does it go on for Havocs/Devastators? I just can't tell on this one.

Thanks for any responses to my embarassingly noob questions and I apologize if it's been asked before. I was surprised it's not explicitly shown in the Chaos book. It seems like the kind of thing modellers would want to be sure about. I'm also surprised it's not always on the same side regardless of the unit type. This is kind of confusing.

Rank and file (aka all but Terminators) bear their Chapter mark on the left shoulder with squad marking on the right.
Terminators bear the Chapter mark on the right with the Crux Terminatus on the left.

Chapter symbol always goes on the left shoulder pad except :
- on terminators, due to Crux Terminatus
- on riveted shoulder pads, like on MK 5 power armours

Okay thanks guys, that makes sense and is less complicated than I thought.

The Chaos marine book appears to have raptors and warp talons on the right though.
