Hello all!

So, i'm an avid fan of Nurgle daemons, and I play them as my main 40k army. However, a few folks I know, are getting into fantasy, and I would like to join in with them, which makes having daemons, a great thing! Using movement trays, and the tile-seporator trick, I can make use of these for both games.

However, I have never played fantasy in my life, so some advice on what I should use from what I have, for a 2000 point army, would be great. Doesn't have to be tournament standard, or even all that competative, as long as I at least have a slim chance of the army being good, I'm happy.

So, what you have to work with to help me build the list

I have

1 daemon prince with removable wings, painted nurgley (I have 2 more, but they are the 40k looking daemon princes )
Epidemius
20 plaguebearers (Naturally, for fantasy I imagine I will need way more troops, but that's not too bad if I have to get more plaguebearers, because they are nice. I imagine 40-50 would be ideal but you tell me!)
10 pink horrors
29 bases of nurglings. Because nurglings.
10 beasts of nurgle (Custom, because the normal one is super expencive)
10 screamers of Tzeentch
6 flamers of tzeentch
Soulgrinder

So, out of these, could I make a useable, not entirely terrible, fantasy army? I really want to use epidemius in it, as he is my favourite, but any suggestions would be great!

Hopefully see you on the fantasy side of the fence soon

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

You will need ALOT more plague bearers. Probably another 40-50. So you can have 2-3 units of 20-30

You have the start of a decent army. Daemons are upper tier.

Nurgle Daemons did get a shaft with Regen saves and Ward saves not being able to be taken together anymore, but they are still quite durable.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Nice start there but you need core, lots more core, you need a minimum of 25% of your army to be core. Generally out of the core it goes Bloodletters>>>>>>Horrors>Daemonettes=Plagebearers. A herald can give a unit a boost with it's Locus ability however for plaguebearers it's not as good as with the other choices. In Fantasy the Regen save is taken in place of a ward save and all daemons get a 5+ ward so basically you are getting a situational +1 save. Now Epidemius with his Tallyman rule can help them wound easier with the poison attacks however it will take some time to get to that point so a Great Unclean One might help here. On the plus side almost all the banners and icons daemons get are good and this applies to the plaguebearers.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Indeeds Well, my idea for the army is, I'm going to get a bunch of zombie models (We play fairly casually, so using zombies in amongst plaguebearers as plaguebearers won't really be an issue ) and use them to bolster my plaguebearer numbers, like squad fillers, so I will have either 2 unit's of 30, or one unit of 50, depending on what's the better idea, with the actual plaguebearer models at the back of the movement tray, so it looks like the plaguebearers, are herding a bunch of plague-infected folks forward. They will still work as a unit of 50 plaguebearers or whatever, but I just preferr that aesthetic, and the story behind the nurgle zombie plague

I like your thinking. Would your casual gaming group be ok with third party models?

Because if you're after zombies, mantic zombies and ghouls kick booty.

I've used them myself, and i find them far superior as well as much cheaper than GW zombies.

My initial reaction was "29 Nurglings?" and then I thought "oh right!"
