Can multiple units ride in the same transport if there is enough space?

Not unless the vehicle specifically allows it (like the stormraven with it's unit+dreadnought combo).

Normal rule is ONE unit per transport (ICs join the unit, so don't break this rule).

Notable exceptions are for apocalypse, where Superheavy transports may transport multiple units.
