I've seen pics of Rhinos and other BA vehicles that look like they have spray painted or airbrushed markings/symbols. Does anyone know where I can get these on-line or if there's a printable PDF. There's no way I can free hand it, I can barely draw a blank. If there is another post about this I apologize, but it didn't come up in the searches I performed.

Don't know of anyone selling them, but it should be easy enough to pop "Blood Angels icon" into a Google image search and rescale your findings for printing. Pop the printout over your chosen stencil material, break out the hobby knife, and you'll be ready to spray in minutes. Vinyl sheets make for great stencils, if you can get some, since it can stretch and flex to fit curves, but even plain old cardstock should hold up for a few rounds of spray.

Thanks for the response. I'll give it a whirl and see how it turns out.

OP: What you have probably seen are large decals (waterslide transfers). I have a tutorial on applying transfers here:
http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/winterdyne_tutorial3.pdf

With very large decals it is an extremely good idea to cut the decal into smaller, more easily managed pieces and line those up. Allow each to dry before doing the next section or you'll end up lifting and tearing. It's difficult work. Freehanding is often easier.

For large BA symbols I'd probably make a jig for marking out and freehand rather than attempting a very large decal. This is a paper / thin card template with holes in that mark the reference points of the design. (tips/corners of the wings, centerpoints of rounded areas along with a few points on the circumference. Use a soft mechanical pencil to mark the model through that.

I don't use 'spray through' templates. Too much chance of underspray or leaks / runs you don't notice and those take longer to clean up neatly than doing the freehand does.

yeah but your a really good painter... regular folk like myself need a little more guidance... i do know that if you use a stencil (or masked off a shape or design) that you have to remove it as soon as you sprayed to prevent it leaking though

Not specifically - but since most the Chapter icons are really fairly generic, you can find dozens of useful stencils from finescale and fingernail suppliers. You will likely need to use two seperate stencils though - one for the wings and a second for the tear.
