Its another crowdfunding campaign! Taban Miniatures is looking to re-edit the rulebook for their Eden skirmish game. Its set in a post-apocaliptic Earth-like planet, complete with devastation, radiation, lack of resources, and all the fun that comes along with nuclear war. While its not a new idea necessarily, the concepts for the factions are inventive and models are well done. The rules work nicely as well, as opponents swap movement and action back and forth rapidly.

Price point is a little steep. Everything includes a rulebook, which is running at close to 40E ($50 plus shipping). There is a 15% coupon with every donation for future purchases, stretch goals are being met, and you have the chance to make your own starter for any faction.

Sample models from each faction:

Bamaka Clan: Mutant voodoo technophiles

Jokers: deranged pyromaniac clowns

Matriarchy: Sadistic genetic-engineering slavers

Convoy: nomadic resource-mongers with a feral boomerang wielding child...

ISC: dominating robotic samurai

Resistance: last vestiges of high technology

Hord: radioactive mutated predator cliques

Really nice models. Saw this posted on dragonpainting.net and meant to drag it over dakka's way.

It's an established range as well, which is nice for people that are crowd funding wary.

cool, will keep tabs on this. Not all of 'em are my taste, but the Convoy and Resistance are pretty nice.

This campaign was posted here a few days ago, although this thread has pictures so its superior to the original.

So far the campaign doesn't look like that good value too me, i compared 2 of the pledge levels to the costs of purchasing the items normally and there doesn't really appear to be any discount at all.
The 75€ level includes,1 boxset at 35€, plus 1 Rulebook at 39€ = 74€.
The 150€ level includes, 2 boxsets at 70€, 1 rulebook at 39€, the scenery set at 39€ = 148€.

Despite the lack of a discount im contemplating backing at the 100€ Aftermath' Special level, the bonus models they've shown off so far all look amazing. Does anyone know if its possible to trade in the rulebook for an additional box set? The gaming scene in my small town is nonexistent so the rulebook would be absolutely pointless to me. I checked the comments section to see if someone had already asked this question, but 90% of the replies have been in french...

First, sorry if its a re-post. I watch the news pretty regularly, but hadn't seen it. Mods, do as needed.

The 100E Aftermath is the one that looks like it could make value better. Already 2 more models, the 15% discount and a terrain piece in addition to the book and starter. If the money keeps coming in, I think this could see a whole second starter in added value.

I don;t know about trade-ins, but that's a good question. I'm even interested in a possible trade in for the added models to match the chosen starter.

To be more precise, we also have unlocked an exclusive model that will be sent to all the subsriptors :

All the perks above 75€ propose 40€ worth of models instead of the 35€ starter

So far there are 3 large scenery elements and 2 fighters unlocked as exclusive campaign choices (and a third creature on the way) all limited edition and resin casted
Thus :
the 100 € "aftermath special" perk can be valued at 115-120€ + the model above and the15% discount over a further purchase.
the 150€ "knight of the apocalypse", with 4 free unlocked goodies would fit in the 180/190€ RSP range....

So since you're posting here Taban, is it possible to trade in the Rulebook from the "aftermath special" perk for either an additional box set or the 40€ worth of Eden blisters?

Just wondering as I don't see how being flexible with the perk rewards could hurt the campaign, if anything it might help bring you a small amount of interest from people who want to back the campaign but just aren't interested in the rulebook. (Like me for example...)

Or, how about a small miniatures-only pledge that could someone could buy multiple times? Say, a 35E pledge that gives a starter and an additional mini, either a Indiegogo exclusive or an established model to add to their starter. I'd go for that. Probably more than once.

Hi Mr Gusty, Drazz
Our main target is obviously players interested in the rulebook + game background
The demand for this document (and most of all its background section has been increasig over the years !)

If you want to support us and only need individual blisters, you can still purchase from our website
Part of our November sales will be dedicated to the book funding anyhow... (the printing + translation + creation cost being far higher than what we asked for on indiegogo )

Automatically Appended Next Post:
A small update about the goodies that will be available only through this campaign :

Unlocked miniatures and sceneries :

And those beyond the next stretch goals :

Sheriff is for Convoy, as is the Bastonne.

Yeah, I'm not huge fan of the forced stretch goals. Three from a faction that is not even available yet, an NPC and now 2 Convoy. Still debating the value of this one, though I love the models, the game, and the setting.

I understand that this campaign is primarily aimed at your existing fan base, but i just can't comprehend why you wouldn't want to at least try and appeal to as many people as possible so you gain the most money from this campaign.

Quite frankly i think you're intentionally limiting the amount of money you will be able to receive by sticking with your current methods, I also feel that you have completely overlooked the amount of impulse buying that actually happens during a well run KS/IGG campaign. The inability to add any additional items to your pledge (outside of paying again for another pledge level anyway.) and the complete lack of higher non-paintjob related pledge levels are just fantastic ways to severely limit the potential of your campaign.

i've decided that if this campaign can reach $30k-$40k so there are a total 7-9 bonus models (assuming they stick with the $5k stretch goals.) then i will most likely pledge, but in its current state this campaign just isn't worth it too me.

I'm personally not going to bother. I often pick up on kickstarter campaigns because they have nice models that either suit an existing game I play, or simply to paint up the models for art's sake.

I'm really not interested in piles of rulebooks that I'll never get around to reading. Sure, I can purchase from your website, but I can purchase from anyone's website at full price. So really, you just took the impulse purchase away.

We added a new perk "My Goodness" : you can now purchase the 8 unlocked miniatures and sceneries per 2 (16€) !

That sculpt looks great, i've listed a few questions below Taban that hopefully you can answer for me.

  • Is the 15% off discount useable only on a single item, or could i use it to take 15% off a large order? Also does it expire after a certain amount of time?

  • If i back this campaign for 100€, does it count towards the 'Fidelity program'? (As its called on the Taban website.) Where you can get permanent discounts based on how much money you've spent in total on Taban miniatures.

  • Are the Sheriff 'Nick' and 'Bastonne' sculpts going to be 100% truly unique to this campaign? or will the versions released in the future be similar to the 2 bonus Askari models? (Eg, The same core models, just with different arms and heads.)

  • (Edit)
You should post this campaign over on Lead adventure and the Post-Apoc Wargames forum, it doesn't appear to have been posted on either of those forums yet. It might just help you get a few more backers over these final few days.

  • the discount can be used only once but for any kind of order made on our website (ou can pick up the whole stock if you want ) No time limit

  • If i back this campaign for 100€, does it count towards the 'Fidelity program'? (As its called on the Taban website.) Where you can get permanent discounts based on how much money you've spent in total on Taban miniatures.

  • No, but the fidelity program starts at a low 100€ with 2.5% : 2 orders or so and you start getting discounted. The best option is to order for yourself and some friends to buff up the account history

  • Are the Sheriff 'Nick' and 'Bastonne' sculpts going to be 100% truly unique to this campaign? or will the versions released in the future be similar to the 2 bonus Askari models? (Eg, The same core models, just with different arms and heads.)

  • Yes, we plan to sculpt totaly different versions of them next year.
Since we run each year an online campaign (on the french eden-the-game.com website) impacting the universe and characters, the re-sculpt could reflectthe story line to come !
Nota : we plan to translate this website so that foreign players can also register their matches and interact with the factions history

You should post this campaign over on Lead adventure and the Post-Apoc Wargames forum, it doesn't appear to have been posted on either of those forums yet. It might just help you get a few more backers over these final few days.

    Thanks I will tonight

I might be jaded after all the post-apo stuff I've seen, but the ideas for the factions seem pretty generic.

Love the All Robot faction and all of the other factions look really well sculpted and painted - but I've already got enough stuff in my wargame pile that I can't find other people to game with, so...

Call me fanboi if needed, but I think its quite the opposite. And I'll take it right to the top. A faction of circus performers is generic? A matriarchal society that enslaves and genetically alters the men for protection and labor is generic?

I've only recently come across Eden, but find it quite refreshing. The models are beautiful. The game is skirmish level and dependent on scenarios. The setting (while used in literature and movies often) has not been overly-tapped by the miniature world. And the factions are quite interesting. To me, anyway.

I'm not personally a huge fan of the pricing on this Indiegogo, or (as stated before) the limits on the stretch goals, but I'll be in for the art of the book, the discount from the webstore, and a couple exclusives.

So Taban, the wording behind both the 'Bastonne' and 'Doc Legend' bonus models is very confusing. Are they actually included in the 'Aftermath Special' perk level?

Alright i figure this is worth posting, it appears that the 25k and 30k bonus models 'Bastonne' and 'Doc Legend' might not be included in the 'Aftermath special' perk level. They may actually need to be purchased separately by adding either 9€ to your pledge to get one model or 16€ for both.

A post from the IGG comments section, by someone claiming to have received a message from Taban about the subject.
(Its not very informative, but i noticed they excluded both Bastonne and the Doc in the 'Aftermath special goodies' portion of the message which has me worried.)
    Juste un message reçu : " […]
Nick is included in the Aftermath Special goodies.
Bastonne and Doc legend can be picked together in a "My Goodness", or separatley in a "Wasteland Peeble" perk
    Cheers
    B ".

If the post is actually true, i think its a very deceitful thing for Taban to do. I mean the 'aftermath Special' perk level is described as including "ALL of the unlocked goodies", not 'Most of the unlocked goodies' (*Up to a maximum of 5 models.*).

Taban, how about releasing an IndieGoGo announcement on this subject? your campaign currently has 139 'Aftermath Special' pledgers who due to the poor wording have absolutely no idea if these models are included in their perk or not.
