So, after hearing great things about the game, and falling in love with the models, I have decided to give the game a try. This list is the result of a couple days of reading after work, and going through the minis to see which ones I like the look of most. Its got 9 orders, but still with 1.5 SWC free. Is it a decent list for a beginner?

For a beginner, start smaller, at least with what you want to bring to the table. It's hard with all the fantastic figs, but really, the game is pretty complicated and plays differently to other games. For actually playing, look at your first games being mostly about a few line infantry and a special weapon as you get to grips with the game system.

Scouts are pretty models, but at this point there are many other options that can do more stuff for the points, or do the same for less points.

What are your tactics, what is the way you want your game to flow?

Start small, play some 150 or 200 point games with models that you like. Get a feel for the system and find out what kind of game you like to play, then expand.

It's already been said: it's a good list, very brutal with 2 HMGs and an Autocannon. But it's not a decent list for beginners since it's too high on points. Make a 150 pts one and you'll be good to go

Thanks for the advice fellas. It is very much appreciated. I'll try to convince my mates to start a little smaller. Its hard when there are so many gorgeous models to choose from. My first purchases last week in Bangkok came out to over 10000฿ (250€). Our first game will be this weekend.

Everyone claims that ariadna scouts are not worth their points. I then see those same people explain that infinity is one of those games where you just pick what you like and go with it. My initial reading, albeit with no infinity gaming experience, is that scouts do justify the increased points cost relative to similar models in ariadna faction for a couple of reasons. Plus, they are one of my favorites looks wise, and fit the elite theme I am trying to go for. I guess time will tell.

Those two lists are good. I like the Scout lt, makes your lt much more surviveable. Personally I would go with the second list because it gives you six camo tokens... and I love camo. and Tankhunters are awesome.
On the other hand, Zouaves are pretty rough too.
Just make sure you think the Irmandinhos are worth it. Most folks aren't too happy using irregular troops, but if you feel it's good then go!
And regarding scouts, even if they are a bit sub-par (I don't know if they are) use them anyway. At least for me it's far more important to use models you like.

Sorry, I didn't mean the scout comment in a "don't use them because they are crap" kind of way. Just wanted to share a concern some people have with them. Infinity is good because there are a lot less net-lists and playstyles can vary a lot.

I don't do Ariadna but I think I'd drop a Tank hunter for two cheaper guys to give you more orders to work with. You only have 6 regular and 3 irregular. That's not going to give much for them to do.

Don't worry to much about being under SWC Aridna Heavy Weapon usually cost less them the other faction anyways. Now on to the Tankhunter, the AP Sniper Rifle is the one I hope to be play vs. me. Now the HMG or Autocannon are something to fear. The HMG is AP and 2x the shots as the sniper rifle can shoot better in the 8-12in range and just as good shooting out to 32 in 4 less then the sniper rifle, but there should be any kill lane longer then around 36in, the extra range on the sniper rifle is a waste most of the time. While the Autocannon has the same rate of fire as the sniper rifle, each hit is AP and 3 ARM check for you to 3 wounds per shot that hit, same range as the HMG.
