Basically, JC Penny is a huge retail business that is about to be a not-in-business business. Lots of people going to be out of work in the next few years it seems.

GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.

Truthfully it's a little hard to believe they are still around to even be in trouble. Sears and K-Mart as well; these have been past their sell-by dates for years, maybe even a decade or more.

Actually Ouze Kmart/Sears isnt too surprising. Pennies sold off thier pharmacy division to CVS just before thigs got ugly in that market, so they looked smart until the whole economy tanked.
Sears has done a pretty good job of staying relevant in the appliance and tools market. Kmart is just getting curbstomped. By Walmart and Target tho. I don't exactly watch that industry closely, so just IMO Sears seems fine.

Maybe they need GW to show them how to run their business?

I was going to say, I was in an ASDA store less than a year ago, and I live in the USA. Last I saw, they were running just fine and seemed to be making money.

M&s maybe, Asda exists only as a name after having been bought out by walmart years ago.

There are also stories that this will be the last Christmas for Best Buy, a major Electronics retail store.

http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/20121103/ISSUE01/311039978/is-this-best-buys-last-christmas

Some even think we are fast approachign the "End of Retail" in the traditional sense.

http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/04/the-end-of-retail-why-the-future-of-shopping-doesnt-need-workers/255863/

The big question is, as we automate everything, what work will workers actually do? And is there enough of it to go around? If not, what will come next?

JC Pennies and Dillards are gonna die shortly. The age of the department store dying with them. I feel like Sears has evolved enough to keep hanging in there.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long
