Battlefield 1942 is free on EA's origin service.

Keep in mind that this is the full version as far as I am aware.

This game has brought me so much joy back when I had the disk for it!

Guess it's US only. Meh, maybe another day.

I too have many fond memories of BF1942, and I am glad that one of my favourite maps ever, "Wake Island", has remained in BF2 as well as BF3.

BF1942 actually has something I still miss in the other games, too. Huge ships and naval combat! Much fun was had with the Yamato during the battle for Iwo Jima, or with those small patrol boats you only had on that one island map...

The Battle for Pearl Harbor wasn't just at Pearl Harbor. Neighboring islands were included.

I have no idea what you are trying to say. The Attack on Pearl Harbor (no one really calls it a battle because of how one sided it was, thats not the point) takes place at Pearl Harbor and the single Island it was on whos name I dont remember. No Japs hit the island of Hawaii because the US had all its military forces focused on one island (actually Im only 70% sure of this. I dont know where that one airfield was that the Japs hit. I want to say its the same island, if im wrong please inform me and ignore this entire sentence)

The Japs did attack other Islands in the Pacific that same day but no one would include the Battle of the Phillippeans... (holy hell I cant spell that... I feel bad not looking it up but feth it)

Wake Island is probably the map you are thinking of, taking place the same day (or day after) as Pearl Harbor and was equally one sided. (Wake Island however is farther West than Midway is. I want to say Wake is closer to Japan that Hawaii is to the US. Dont quote me there though lol )

All I remember was taking our carrier as the US and ramming the Japanese carrier so it would tip over and everyone would fall off...

God I loved that game.

It took trolling in FPS to a whole new level...

My bad, I was thinking of Wake Island (it was years ago that I played).

I wish some of the other unique forms of warfare were in the game though, such as the Japanese being the first to understand the jet stream, so they could send bombs clear over to California via weather balloons.

Battle of Britain, on the Allied side, seeing 3 bombers full of gunners spewing hot lead coming at you.

I must admit I hate the term Jap. It's pretty offensive and derogatory.

Anyway, I have TF2, so thanks but no thanks.
