The GenCon figure, Miss Terious.

I must say, there is an impressive amount of shelf space taken up by what is little more than the same amount of stuff that GW has for their new one-sprue characters. The box is almost as large as the old Mage Knight boxes but the amout of stuff on the sprue could easily have fit in the new style GW clamshell cases. Beautiful detail on the model itself but the spot where the mold halves join leaves such a prominant line down the side of the model that it makes me feel sad. I don't plan on playing the Guild anytime soon so this character probably won't see much action. Still, it is a really nice model. I'm even more stoked for December when I can order my Thunders stuff.

Great to hear. I have not opened my Miss T yet, but its in the queue. I picked up my 10T at Gencon and overall I am very happy with the models. I have not had much to clean in the way of mold lines, although the ones there are have been very visible. Lucky a quick scrape of a hobby knife has been enough to peel them off. 10T Archers are a challenge to assemble, and Metal Gamin are a bit silly (one has his feet separate, which are very very small pieces).

All in all, I think Wyrd has had an excellent first outing with plastics. I expect things will only get better as they do more kits and get more experience with how the models need to be cut.

Though a little small and a little oddly packed (I'm not sure why they need those crazy-big boxes, but seems similar to the old model airplanes I used to build, in terms ofextra empty volume), yeah, they're really nice casts. Not perfect, but was much happier about that transition than PP's translation to even rounder and more cartoony

I'm not sure, but I think some sort of clamshell pack would have been a better way to go with single character releases. Save the boxes for large sprue or multi-sprue stuff.

I'm about to put this together but now I realize I don't have any plans on what to do for the base. I guess a western theme would be best given that I'm picking up asians and railroad workers. Now to figure out what to weigh them down with. The bases are too shallow to use nickles like I do for GW models and I'm not about to use a quarter which is a much better fit. Anyone have any ideas on a cheap metal bit about the size and thickness of a quarter?

I think they're not using a blister b/c they probably don't have the production capacity for different types of clamshells, while they probably would have less trouble with new sizes of boxes.

Re: weight, hardware store. I think an equivalent-sized washer (around here, at least) costs around 10¢.
