Subject: US Marine Corps. 237th Birthday / Veteran's & Remembrance Day thread
A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore. The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines. As the first order of business, Samuel Nicholas became Commandant of the newly formed Marines. Tun Tavern's owner and popular patriot, Robert Mullan, became his first captain and recruiter. They began gathering support and were ready for action by early 1776. Each year, the Marine Corps marks November 10th with a celebration of the brave spirit which compelled these men and thousands since to defend our country as United States Marines.
The eagle born to those who pledged their lives and sacred honor was smiled upon by God and freed from chains and iron collar. He is held aloft on unity and by history revered; for preserving peace through strength his wings now reach across two hundred years. But for each of those and one year more, God has smiled upon The Corps, from the Barbary Coast to the Eastern Sand, by sword, by gun, or by bare hand. So it's been, and shall be weighed: though many are born, few are "made". Faithful Always, they shall remain, dogs to loose when war is waged.
From taking drunk volunteers in a Phili pub, to now being the largest Marine force in the world. This thread is dedicated to the USMC, for they one of the core concepts of 40K is partially based on (besides Medevil knights and others stuff...)

Shame.
The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

er... what?
You thought we were a Theocracy?
No, but the whole God part was kind of... unnecessary in my opinion.

A: Never did I say you said such a thing. B: It seems unnecessary, but I'll apologise for being "That Guy". I just don't think Religion should be placed into these kinds of things involving Government and millitery.

Everyone who has ever watched Full Metal Jacket should completely understand that American is not a "Christian Nation" but he/she does absolutely LOVE the Marines, who keep a steady supply of souls going to the pearly gates
I should point out that I am not, and have never been a Marine, but I can honestly say that I would gladly serve alongside any one of you Jarheads if called to do so

You're really going to discount a beautifully written poem because it mentions god?
I mean, its not like no body every praised god 200 years ago. Such a notion is clearly wrong
This thread is testament to the hostility certain dakkites hold to any mention of God. Please try and keep the anti religious rant's out of a thread designed to honor American Marines.

GG
It's OK mate, the Marines on this forum are taking note, and have dispatched AFVs to those locations
People like to jump at the throat of things now and then, but that's there business. Sometimes those things include the Marine Corps, that's also their business. Do wish they'd take it else where from time to time.

Yeah I've never understood people jumping about on poetry and songs. It's not like any one flat out said "America is a Christian nation, blah blah" they quoted some lyrics. That's all. Excellent lyrics actually I've seen the song performed.
The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!

And now a brief, and amusing toast before we turn to for Veteran's day services.
The wonderful love of a beautiful maid,
The love of a staunch true man,
The love of a baby, unafraid,
Have existed since time began.
But the greatest of loves, The quintessence of loves.
even greater than that of a mother,
Is the tender, passionate, infinite love,
of one drunken Marine for another.
"Semper Fidelis"
General Louis H. Wilson
Commandant of the Marine Corps
Toast given at 203rd Marine Corps Birthday Ball
Camp Lejueune, N.C. 1978
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long
May you always win the monetary bet for "which OP comes under assault first on Ramadan", and may you always avoid the task of "which of the STA guys will have to go into the reeds outside OP Omar at 2am to look for the PAS-13 or PEQ that someone lost".
Seriously, happy bday you dumb grunts.
For great justice.. and Rip Its.

Stateside or over seas there is no over exaggerating the Marine love of Rip Its and energy drinks in general.
My veteran's day post turned into a free verse poem this year:
And now to say a toast and remember the names,
of those who've fallen's immortal fame.
The damned and the lost,
they gladly paid the cost
and for those of us left we remain.
Our war has ended
Our time is through
Our number has come up
We paid the price in times of strife
for saying we were tough enough
We went where we were needed
No second thoughts were seeded
Once more into the breach
From assaulting a beach
to the desert's reach
Our mission was always world wide
We served with pride,
through out all time
A sacrifice we volunteered for and made
That others might survive
We gladly gave our lives
Who will remember our names?
So brother my brother
you must never yourself forget
During parades and celebrations
that we can't be part of it
Our solemn charge to you
to those who have survived
"When you get back home
Tell them for us and say,
for your tomorrow we gave our today"
The black armband is a mourning band for those who don't know
