Hey guys, I'm toying with the idea of starting an Ultramarine army.
Being a weird guy, I was thinking about making my marines wear MK8 armor (I just like the design better, screw background in this case), and modifying them to look taller than the guardsmen.
For making them taller, I was wondering if it could be just a matter of picking up a few legs that are less flexed than say, tac marine legs. So I was thinking, maybe if I just put tactical marines torsos on assault marine legs (I'm not planning on using assault marines anyway), they'll look taller.
Am I lucky or will I have to manually stretch the minis by cutting them and adding pieces of green stuff?

The running assault marine legs are the same height as normal marines and will not give you the effect you are looking for. However, there are plenty of tutorials around that can help you, just search for "true scale space marines" or "art scale space marines" with Google.

Yeah, sorry I can't add a lot to this discussion in the way of resources, but I'd like you to know that you are not alone. True-scale 40k modeling is a topic that has been around for quite a while, and there are many people who have the same aspirations as you. Your solution of adding assault marine legs is one that I have not yet heard, but many people have written tutorials containing pretty ingenious solutions for making their marines taller. Every once in a while people start talking about whether GW will start making their models true-scale, but for now it seems that is highly unlikely. Good luck though!

I looked around on the forums and saw this: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/437416.page (Cool poses btw) Looks like the best way to do it is cut the hips, glue one piece to a plasticard sheet, cut the plasticard following the border, glue the other side, and then sand it. I'm gonna try this week and see how it goes. Also, if the assault marine legs are the same height, it means they are ridicolously short. Good for real smurf marines, I guess

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one? |
