So, today at my local gaming club, after playing my first game of 2500 points with my buddy I went to go buy a coke before I left and discussed the game I had just had with a guy with me. I said I was really waiting to get a decent and proper apocalypse game (I used to try the ones GW stores do occasionally but generally the staff tend to be useless organizing them and umpiring them, the teams are uneven, there are far too many players, and the game never goes past turn 3, so I got bored of them very quickly) and he said that he would do a game of Apocalypse with me with his Orks. I was pretty much ecstatic at this point as I knew the guy was a good painter, having seen his armies around before, and I had practically given up trying to search for an Apocalypse game, so I said yes.

So I spent most of tonight thinking of what I could do with a 5000 pt Apocalypse force. I've got about 11,000 points total Space Marines, half of which I never get to dust off so I'm not particularly fussed if something isn't super-uber competitive and I would much rather have a bit of fluffyness to it to add a narrative than only take the best choices. For this reason the only restriction I'd like to set on comments is that there's a fluffy incentive to every change I make. The only thing I'm absolutely determined not to change is keeping a minimum of 1 Chapter Master and one Captain. As a note, my chapter is my own homebrew called the Omega Lords, and I'm not entirely decided on chapter specific fluff, only that I really like Terminators . The other big thing is that I only have a single drop pod, so telling me to put everything in drop pods and giving an essay on why its a good decision is a bit pointless, to save you your effort and wisdom. I'm not entirely objected to suggestions or discussion, only my main reason to post this was to see what everyone would think. I'll also be doing a full battle report (with pictures) after I've done it for your entertainment.

So, onto my list, not including Apocalypse formations:

Troops (1150pts)

10 Man Tactical squad with missile launcher and flamer, Rhino dedicated transport x3
5 man Tactical squad x3, with Razorback dedicated transport armed with TLLC x2, and one Razorback with TLHB's.
5 man Scout Snipers x1

Fast Attack (720pts)

1x 10 man Assault Squad with Sergeant armed with power weapon and storm shield
1x Bike Squad with 6 Bikers and Sergeant
Storm Talon Gunship armed with Typhoon ML's x2

Heavy Support(690pts)

1x Predator Destructor w/ HB sponsons
1x Whirlwind Hyperios (AA version of the whirlwind from IA:A)
1x Thunderfire Cannon
1x Vindicator

Now, the fun stuff:

Masters of the Chapter Apocalypse Formation

Chapter Master in Terminator Armour armed with a pair of lightning claws
Master of the watch with power axe and storm shield - Lets me hit every member of a single unit coming on from reserve with a sniper shot once
Master of the Arsenal with power sword and power fist, artificier armour - Lets me designate a unit once in the game that will get hit on 2's by every one of my units
Master of the Fleet with Thunder Hammer, artificier armour - Gives me Orbital Bombardment, which is a huge template with 5 area's that can get hit multiple times.
Master of the Recruits with Relic blade and Boltgun - If my opponent has any single model units I get a S5 ap2 hit against them at the start of the game.
Command Squad with Company Banner, Company Champion, 1 Veteran with CC/PP, 1 veteran with Power Sword/PP and Apothecary, also with Razorback Lasplas dedicated transport.

Deathkneel Assault Force

This is the crunch and my favourite part of the list.

2x 5 man Terminator Squad with Heavy Flamer
2x 5 man Terminator Squad with Assault Cannon
1x 5 man Terminator Assault Squad with TH/SS
1x 5 man Terminator Assault Squad with TLLC's
Dreadnought with assault cannon and drop pod dedicated transport.

Basically, where I want to put them I get to deep strike a "Deathkneel" dummy cyclonic torpedo with beacon and then hit the area it lands on with an orbital bombardment that doesn't scatter, and then I deep strike (without scatter) all the Termies within 12 of the beacon. If it goes offboard I just deep strike normally. I set them up in spaced layers, starting with the heavy flamer Termie squads, then the AC squads, and then the Assault Squads. The Chapter Master deploys with the TH/SS squad.

Land Raider Terminus Ultra pattern x1

I get an additional choice from Strategic assets, but I'm not overly keen on taking one as at the moment I think two Orbital Bombardments is overkill as it is and having any other advantages wouldn't really be fair. I have no idea what this guy is going to bring either, apart from the fact that obviously there's going to be the obligatory horde of boys.

Nice, I like how you managed to keep him in his deployment zone and stop his advance before it even took off, I'm hoping my turn 2 the Deathkneel will be able to stop my opponent from gaining ground in his advance so I can surround him with bolter fire.

All my assault marines were in reserve and had 6 or 7 drop pods i think, it was night fighting first turn and only had a few tanks on the table turn 1, he went first. I have another apoc game next saturday, 4k points each 4 players, ba and sw against chaos i think!
