Hello chaps, time for a change of pace of me, and to launch into another project! I want to eventually collect and paint all of the original models (except the Goliaths because those models are tremendously awful)

First of all to anyone reading this I am looking for the following gangs to buy from you anyone with them, if anyone has the complete or even partial collections I am chasing:
Cawdor, Van Saar, Delaque.

I have always loved the Necromunda figures, it was the height of Necromunda when I got into the hobby in 1996 and so my early days of White Dwarf where filled with these models and i've always had a massive soft spot for them, and my early days of gaming was with Necromunda and Gorkamorka as well as 2nd Ed 40k, although I never did at the time own any Necromunda figures!

I have the Escher gang all complete and finished, so I will trickle them out one at a time as I go to keep you interested whilst I paint through the other ones, I will also be painting my WFB Empire/DOW at the same time so I will be going slowly!

Escher Ganger with Autogun and Pistol, Escher Ganger with Lasgun

These are all painted up Punk Rockers/Hair Band girls from the 80's bright colours and big hair so what else could they be!

Orlock Juve and Ratskin Ganger

These wip figures show my new thing, Grey Undercoat, for me the perfect balance between providing a bit of shading and still keeping the colours vibrant, so we will see how they go! I am not sure on what to do with the Orlocks just yet, although their obvious Biker looks is making me lean towards black leather jackets and blue jeans, we will see how it goes. With the ratskins I am thinking up earthy tones for clothing, with Albino ratskin cloaks and some Native American inspired facial warpaint, If I can give an impression of these guys I will be very pleased.

Hallo chaps! Got another little man painted, just the one this week, but I have been purchasing as well, it might amuse Bruticus to know that despite my no Goliath statement earlier I have bought some anyway! Can't control myself!

Ratskin Renegade with Lasgun

This was a fun model to paint and i'm pleased with how the little fella turned out, the little symbol on his rifle was a native american symbol I doodled on.

Never painted pink before! I am thinking I need to spruce up the bases on my guys a little, might get some scenic ones! Haven't decided yet. But just wanted to start painting so didn't have time to fiddle with fancy basing and just get a ratskin painted up. Really enjoying these old Necromunda models.

Thanks for the kind words boys! Appreciate it, some more girls step up, going to do all of my Chainswords with the industrial hazard stripes, love that look. Although I just notice now in the photo that a couple of the stripes are slightly irregular!

Escher with Autogun, Escher with Autopistol and Chainsword

A few new models have arrived and are primed and ready to go! At this moment painting up the brave, I am taking my time with these boys getting one done at a time, very enjoyable way to paint but slow!

Redemptionist with Shotgun, Ratskin Brave with Musket (haha!) Scavvy with Shotgun

I have a cool paintjob planned for the redemptionist going to be fairly bold I hope, and for the Scavvies my idea was to paint them in tattered industrial safety clothing, yellow or orange types, maybe a high vis stripe or two, do it on a case by case basis! Represent them either raiding or being ex-factory workers.

Thanks rustproof

Night time painting!

Anyhow, had a productive night, and decided to take a late night photo of my now finished Brave. Great model (although not really the most grimdark 40k piece! But i love it anyway.) Really pleased with the eyes on this chap, and happy how the facepaint came out. Think i'm going to stipple a bit of rust on a few more things now since it brightens up a piece of scenery quite nicely.

Ratskin Brave with Musket

Time for a break! Poptarts nom nom!

Thanks for the kind words chaps! Really appreciate the positive comments, really perks me up to get them. Actually my painting area last week was massively messy! It took me most of Saturday to completely re-tidy everything and get my paints put in my new racks, if you look underneath the table you can probably see piles of little men things that have been haphazardly stacked.

Now I know this isn't Necromunda, but I have my second guard army that has been sitting neglected for about a year, I lost inspiration on them and it took me a while to figure out why. They were too dark! The colours I painted were very realistic and looked pretty good individually, but when you put them all together they were very dull. So I took the time to brighten one up a goodly amount, helps it pop I feel, hope you agree!

I actually have a Necromunda scenario in my head involving Guardsmen/PDF, maybe I'll try to develop it in the future and post it up! (maybe some exist already! Feel free to share!) that's something that I find Necromunda lent itself too well, the scale and rich setting of it means scenarios can be devised much more easier. Plus the squad level game means that your always much more involved with your figures than throwing another horde of men into enemy guns.

Burn the witch! Cool models the redemptionists, very fitting in the 40k universe the crazed Zealot and not really represented on the 40k battlefield at all (besides Chaos worshippers!). Then again, crazed untrained, poorly armed and un-armoured men stand no chance against professional soldiers, let alone the horrors that the 40k universe spawns!

In the sprawling underhive however, plenty of witches to burn!

Redemptionist with Shotgun

Hope you guys like my choice of colours with this one, didn't want to go for the hot rod flame effect on the robe, they like to burn things not be burnt themselves after all! Besides, fanatics don't tend see themselves as such and having flame robes seems too self aware to me

It is Dheneb stone, one of my favourite Citadel colours for sure. I agree about the mask in the photos, in the flesh the highlights are much more apparent, consequence of photographing at night I think.

The paints just build up over the years i think oo i need...

These latest photos show my favourite work to date, my mother is a furniture restorer and I must have inherited some of that drive from her because I have 'restored' these miniatures and it please me more than doing up some brand new models. Hope you like the results also

Before, my 2nd hand redemptionists

After, Redemptionist with Autogun, Redemptionist with Stubgun and Autopistol, Redemptionist with two Autopistols

Anyway, got some more men sprayed and ready to go, a Cawdor, a Goliath and some other to go! Will show you my box of wonder/horror in my next post!

Thanks guys glad you like them! Comments and constructive criticism is such a great motivator

Bruticus: Well as I.gathered up the models from the internet I realised I couldn't skip out on one of the gangs even if it has my least favourite model in it. :p Equal to Nagash imo!

Ok, haven't finished my Goliath and Cawdor yet (sorry Skalk! But getting my Guard finished up for a 40k mega game) although they are on the way, in the meantime here is one i prepared earlier Armorum will like this. Love the expression on this lady, very fierce, and it was my first attempt at Tartan too Turned out pretty well.

Escher Ganger with Autopistol and Sword

Ruguld: I started off just wanting to do the models, but the itch to build necessary is increasing a lot, particularly as i look through some of the awesome painting logs on this website with some mind blowing Necromunda scenery, see how we go.

Merry Christmas everybody! Hope you all have a nice holiday period and get the goodies you asked for, aren't we glad it wasn't the calender induced apocalypse!

Thanks Ozy and Boar, I have now gotten the other miniatures I was looking for, except for a couple of Spyrers and one tricky Van Saar Juve. The paint station is a little more messy now

Just wanted to show off my box of wonder/horror (currently wonder, as i get through it it might turn to the latter) my almost complete collection of Necromunda 95/97 figures awaiting paint jobs. Think you guys can ID them all? You'll go mad trying Like me!

Regular Dakkanaut

Thanks everybody Hmel: Yes i have gotten a couple items from GW directly, Van Saar gang, easier to find there than on ebay.

PDH, it may indeed be there! You will have to wait and see

Goliath Online! As the little walker said in Starcraft back in this era. Got my big muscle man painted, not the greatest of sculpts by a long shot but one of the better Goliath ones. Couldn't resist putting some hazard stripes on his rifle, I will continue that with the rest of the Goliaths, feel it fits their heavy industry background and its my favourite trend of the 'red era'.

The muscles on this guy though! Blimey, must be some serious drugs in the underhive!

Goliath with Autogun and Axe

Cawdor Juvie next! They will be tied in with the redemptionists in their paint scheme, since the Redemptionists are meant to be part of the Cawdor House anyhow!
Made in au
Regular Dakkanaut

My first Cawdor is done, He has a rusty old Knife as a Juve but his laspistol is kept in good condition! The hazard stripes will remind him to point away from face! I deliberately wanted the Cawdor to tie in with the Redemptionists, firstly, because the Redemptionists are part of the Cawdor house, so I see these guys as being part of the same sect, and secondly because it also gives me the opportunity to use them in 40k games as a single unit, since they mix so well.

Cawdor Juve with Laspistol

Quite like this colour scheme, have to resist the urge to paint it on everything haha

Hello chaps! Back on the Necromunda painting again. I did these two because they represent the Best and Worst miniatures in the Necromunda gang. The two Deacons.

The Worst: Deacon with Flamer, not the worst model in the Necromunda range, but the worst in the Redemptionst, this guy is a bit lame imo for two reasons, firstly, his hat, it is completely flat, there is no room at all for this guys face to be, unless his nose and lips and chin have been ground flat (not an impossibility in the underhive I suppose!) but his totally tubular head annoys me and secondly his arms, ludicrously large for his body and far too long, they would reach past his knees if they were resting down. If those arms were replaced with some human sized sleeved ones it'd be a pretty good model I think. Really 40k this guy.

The Deacon with Grenade Launcher is my favourite Redemptionist model and in my Top 5 Necro models of the entire range. Well proportioned, excellent pose with the robes flowing naturally in the direction of movement, and the absolutely fierce grotesque mask that he's wearing, coupled with that studded hoot, brilliant. A figure that feels totally 40k to me.

Thanks PDH and I have seen that thread before alabamaheretic, its a biggie! Need to take some time to go have a good look at it.

Inspiration struck suddenly at work today! (yesterday now its 1am!) So I stayed up all night painting this one guy. The Orlock Juve, I initially wrestled with a concept for these guys and then decided to leave it, let it simmer and see what happens, well today I was thinking about the colour schemes I wanted for all the un-started gangs and I thought, oo I want to paint checkers on something, but which gang.

Then I thought ah, the bandannas and loincloths on the Orlocks, of course! suddenly I had images of 50's diners, Race cars, Rockabilly and greasers, those old timey American mechanic shops and so the evening was spent furiously painted and he emerged, chequered and festooned with a Spade, I will do them with clubs, hearts, diamonds also.

His skin is a little orange in the pic, which it doesn't look in real life, just late night photography under my lightbulbs i'm afraid. Great expression on this model, a little scared, a little swagger, good model.

Thanks alabamaheretic, it's quite easy to do little details like lines and checks, just thin paint, you do squares by doing lots of little vertical lines rather then trying to paint a square.

Thanks thephoney, I know what you mean! I barely kept any of the old models from 2nd edition, had the Ork Stormboyz and Kommandos and heaps of cool metal figs, sold 90% of them around 2000 because of the terrible embarrassing paintjobs haha, silly me.

The models I am still chasing are a few Spyrers and the Van Saar juve with Club, can't find that little ugly bugger anywhere.

Thanks killykavekommando, I don't actually have any terrain atm! But it's something I want to work on to build up a Necromunda terrain board Maybe in the future I will. As far as vehicles I have some IG with some mech that I can post up.

Continuing on with the Redemptionists, two more fanatics, including the Priest with the melta gun, hot stuff. Both pretty decent sculpts the Priest in particular being another standout in the Necro range.

Some sort of impractical weapon wielding maniac will be next!

Vroom vroom! The sound of a chainsaw wielding maniac reverberates through the hive! Run girls with easily twistable ankles! Very fun model this one, totally impractical weapon in the extreme, without looking awful, hard line to tread! The paint was still not totally dry on his base you can see there

It lives! Hello all, been neglecting my poor Necromundas a bit, but back on the wagon with a few new models to show off! Hopefully some of my fans are still around to remember these! Hopefully I don't spend too much time distracted by other projects this time. So many models so little time.

First up, here is a functional, if a little un-exciting model, shotgun guy. Not too fabulous but useful in the game to have a nice cheap shotgun guy!

Brethren with Shotgun

I hate having to write text! So I wasn't looking forward to getting to this Arch Zealot model, but it turned out... Ok. Might revise him later, but he will do for now. Still a cool miniature though, suitably angry looking without having to be covered in a thousand thousand skulls, ah GW, when did you lose your way.

Now here is a new one, the maligned, filthy little monsters that crawl under our underhive beds. The Scavvies.

I had this guy half painted for the longest time, I was originally thinking to go with high visibility clothes like they were working in factories and mines and had escaped. But it turned out clashing awfully so I just put him down, I pickedhim up today and finished him off, with more muted colours and it turned out.. OK, I'll let you guys judge.

I'm not wholly satisfied but he will do for now, I will do the rest of them in a motley of different clothes as befitting them, but all muted and grubby of course.

What I do love about this guy is his face, amazing detail and expression. Plus those gross pimples. Great stuff.

Calling the Ratskins to war! We have this cheerful chap, 3 of his friends will soon be following. Solid model this one, good pose, turned out pretty well with a lick of paint, didn't go to ambitious with the facepaint on him.

The Ratskins I feel in particular really overcome the issues of the very flat moulds they had to use in those days, so much dynamic and fairly realistic posing going on.

Ratskin Renegade with Autogun

Thanks Gogsnik, you pointed out the bases then I noticed I hadn't rusted up the metal on that Ratskin!

I want my Scavvies to look like construction workers/miners and so on, risen up in rebellion I have a few Digga models from Gorkamorka that will be mixed in with them too.

Agreed completely on the later specialist game models, i think it was a result of trainee sculptors being used for them rather than their more established ones as in the original range. Even the uglier models in the 95-97 range such as the Goliaths have a lot of very fun little details on them, buckles, grenadees, belts so on.

Another Ratskin reporting to the call, just another great model from a great range. Love all the aiming models in Necromunda, always my favourite, as a child it always gave me great pleasure to be looking down the barrel with the then (crudely painted) models and paper card making pew pew noises.

Thanks Gogsnik appreciate the comments!

Next up is the Ratskin with autoguns twin, the Ratskins with double barrelled shotgun! I don't know if everyone knows this, but all of the Necromunda Gangers and Juves shared a body with another one in their own gang, just with different heads, arms, weapons etc. you'll be able to pick them out, now you know it. I wonder how these Ratskins get their rat coats tails to stand up, maybe some cunning arrangement with wire.

And we are back, with a Van Saar, the incredibly tight suit wearing technolords of the underhive. A decent range with a few awkward poses but nicely detailed models.

Paint scheme was inspired by Mass Effect, the N7 outfit but with Green spot colour as a homage to the original GW scheme of happy green! Glad to be back

Here is a new rare model, you guys should enjoy this one, I didn't enjoy paying for it :p but it was worth it to complete the gang. This is one of my absolute top favourite sculpts of that entire range, always loved this figure.

"I live! I die! I live again" Fury Road is incredible (and I am a big Mad Max fan so I thought this would be another Hollywood hackjob) go see it in any way you can, with the volume maxed. (hehe)

Inspired by Fury Road is this Digga boy, now I know its not technically Necromunda, but I got this guy in a job lot, and I thought he would make an excellent Pit Slave (I will homebrew some rules I think for non-robot ones, balance be damned) after the movie I realised how I would paint this bald half naked bugger, and now all the Pit Slaves will be similar.
