Played a quick (1.5hr) game with my brother tonight with my newly formed Scythes of Glory chapter of SM. He was playing a ragtag SW force. He and I chose to play a game of capture the artifact. A favorite of ours. So it began well enough for him killing off a combat squad on turn one and advancing almost entirely to the artifact. When my turn came I countered with my favorite of weapons... Plasma, I smoked 9 Grey hunter and 2 wolf guard with all my P. Cannons combined. He quickly realized the importance of spacing in open ground. Beyond those kills I ddnt really hit much. In his shooting phase he ran a wolf priest into the blood gulch claiming the prize which he then needed to move to his side of the field (Laterally, not to his Deployment zone.) He gunned down another combat squad. The real pain came when Grimnar assualted my assualt squad, killing all 5 before I could even swing back... The next turn I used about 50% of my remaining troops to gun grimnar down, removing the biggest threat on the field, killed another 5 blood claw with bolter fire. Assualt phase resulted in 3 kills of his 9man wolf guard, and two wounds to my chapter master. Turn 4 yielded great results as my Termies ported into the midst of combat, gunning down the artifact bearing squad and taking it for themselves. I then killed another 4 wolf guard and taking no more wounds to my CM. His turn had no kills in shooting but assualted a Combat squad with blood claws. no casualties. I killed the remainder of his wolf guard and took no more wounds to the Chapter Master. At this point he had no viable scoring units left and no heavy weapons to bring to bear on my terminators or CM. He surrendered losing all remaining units for a crushing defeat with a kill ratio of roughly 3-1 in favor of me. FOR THE GLORY OF THE IMPERIUM!
