This came up in a necron tactica thread.

Imagine how awesome it would be if a Necron Lord had the option of purchasing a gloom prism as a part of their wargear. I would estimate the cost of purchasing the gloom prism to be 25-30 points.

This would be a far superior alternative then running spyders in a non-scarab farm army or taking an allied detachment for psychic defense.

For an army that has little to no psychic defense, I believe this is a step in the right direction.

Maybe 20pts, otherwise I'd give it a miss.

Lack of psychic defense is one of the few weaknesses of an incredibly powerful army. I think there's a reason that it's not a wargear option. If you were to house rule that, I would have to make it a points value that gives serious doubts about whether or not you want to buy it. 30 points would probably constitute an auto-include, and I think that would probably tip the balance even further in favor of Necrons as top dog of 6th.

Really, it shouldn't exist at all. In fact, DTW should be removed for races that dont have psychic presence in the warp (nids, necrons, ?tau?). The entire lack of defense vs psychc abilities is a key weakness in necrons that should never have been modified.

I'm sensing some hate in this statement.

Possibly include it as wargear for a new Royal Court member, so the unit is making a choice between CC utility (Lord), ranged utility (Cryptek) and psychic utility (Pariah, yeah bring 'em back!).

i like the idea of this, maybe rework the royal court to fit it in though, such as the court can only be 5 members max then include pariahs as the new anti psychic stuff. but to make it fair have them like the crypteks were they specialize, maybe have 6 different types, one for each type of power and a final one for codex own powers kinda like this

pariah......25pts (exact same as a cryptek to start)

pariah of bioantimancy.......Xpts
gains rod of .........

then can take 1 of 2 upgrades restriced to one per army one is cheaper but weaker and one is stronger but in the 40 points area. just repaet for all 5 main areas of whatever they are called, dont know how a codex specific to deal with stuff like the new chaos tables and greyknight/eldar stuff. maybe leave the codex specific untouchable.

6th editon slate:

necrons 4000pts 18/3/16
grey knights 600pts 1/0/0
