Hello all!

This is my first WIP thread on Dakka, so I hope I am doing this right.

This thread will follow the project life of my Infected Eldar. (Or Slaanesh Eldar as I like to call them.)
I have only just started on the painting and converting of my Eldar, so this is still brand new, and your ideas and comments will shape how this army will look in the end! So please, don't hesitate to post any ideas/comments you have about the models! And if you have compliments/criticisms, those are great as well, so go ahead and post them!

Now, this is my personal army, so I will have to work around painting commissions while I am doing this... so sometimes it might get a bit slow. But I will post updates as often as I can.

So first off, here is a pic of some of the Eldar that I already have had assembled. I have alot more that are not pictured, but these were just sitting out.

As far as a color scheme, I am going for a black model with pink, and blue on it. I am hoping this will give the models a Slaaneshish (Yes, I just make that word up...) kind of look to them.
I have not decided what colors to paint the converted parts, (Nid Bits) but I was thinking something along the lines of pink or green....

I am looking for any ideas/comments! So PLEASE post if you have ANY input about this. I have started on my first test model.. but have not gotten to far...

Like I said, still WIP, but at least I am trying to work out where to put the colors.. (Of course these do not have highlights.. ect..)

And here are two pics of one conversion that I finished.

And I want to have some models like this, and then some Eldar models with normal heads in a unit. This way it will make them look like some were more infected than others. I am also going to be giving some wings, different faces, and different arms on the back ext.. and maybe greenstuffing some tentacles on them somewhere as well.

I am still working on ideas for converting vehicles and wraithlords and stuff.... I was planning on putting Hive Tyrant Wings, or Balrog wings on the wraithlord of Falcons somewhere to make them look like the vehicles themselves are alive, but I am still tossing around ideas. (Again post if you have any ideas!)

So, what are your thoughts so far? Any ideas/comments?

Thanks so much for reading all that. And I hope this will be a fun P&M blog for all of you.

Thanks again!

Chris

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I forgot to ask, I also have a Tau army that I am working on... should I start a separate thread for that? Or should I just put the Eldar and Tau in the same thread?

Thanks!

Chris

I wouldn't get too carried away with random modding. You need to make the models still represent something. If everything is randomly modded then you'll be hard pressed to figure out which models are scorpions and which are banshees. Try to establish a specific theme for each unit type (Pincers for scorpions, blade-arms for banshees, bio-rifles (the big ones) for reapers, etc.) You may also want to pick and choose specific sets of heads for the different units.

If you look, Slanneshi daemons typically lack symmetry. You could work this into your color scheme somehow I'm sure. Also remember that all Eldar are psyckers. Throwing some chaos runes along random bits of armor would help solidify the intended chaos feel. You may also want to invest into some Dark Eldar Cabalites and Wytches as they are pretty much followers of hedonism already. Replacing the heads with Craftworld heads and/or bit bashing with Tyranid should make for some interesting conversions.

This is really great advice. I was actually thinking the same thing myself, but this really makes perfect sense. Great to know somebody else is thinking the same thing.

I should had posted this in the main thread, but I was just planning on ussing Slanneshi colors, (black and pink) I didn't mean to make the models look like them. Sorry for the vagueness.

Yet another fantastic idea.

Dang man! You are just full of awesome ideas! This is why I wanted lots of comments!

So, when you say that I should replace the heads, are you saying I should do that for the for a particular unit? Like use Banshee heads for Cabalites, and count them as Banshees in a game?

Thank you for the comment, I REALLY appreciate it!

Honestly that is up to you and how you want them to look. Banshee heads on Cabalites would make for a good "full armor" feel but you are going to want at least some variation since they are corrupted Eldar and thus probably don't follow the rigidity of only using Aspect gear. This could be where the Tyranid bits or just some clever painting comes in.

I'm not sure how the opposite would turn out though (Dark Eldar helmets on Craftworld bodies). The unhelmeted versions should look fine, but IMO the DE helmets clash a bit too much with the Craftworld body armor.

Yeah, that makes alot of sense. I don't have any of those bodys, so I will have to pick some up. (Then I will be able to see what kind of conversions I can do.)

This is trure. But I was thinking about using the DE Scourge heads in the army somewhere... but I have not decided where. Do you think those would look ok?

Thanks!

Since the heads are angular and the hair is swept back, they would fit any model that is moving quickly.

If you plan on using Swooping Hawks these would be good candidates so long as you replaced the smaller Hawk wings with something a bit more dramatic.
They would also work well on anything on a jetbike and the gunner on the Vyper.

Again, these are your conversion so the only person you really need to have enjoy them is yourself.

Ok, I will see if I can acquire some of these heads and see about an conversion.

True... true..
But I love to see other people liking my army as well.

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks!

EDIT: Lol, I posted this in another thread.. XD sorry for the delay.

Ok, so I had a little time last night to work on them, and this is the progress I made....

I decided that maybe changing the heads and all might be a little to much convertion work.... XD So I think I will just stick to the arms/wings and stuff.

So here is a model with just the Nid arms added...

I have ALWAYS loved wings on people. Whether it be in video games, movies, pictures, or models, this is something that I have always loved. So in this army of infected Eldar, I am going to want alot of them to have some sort of wing conversion to them. (Whether it be just a certain unit or something..)

So I had a little inspiration from Final Fantasy Advent Children, (Great movie if you love FF.... actually, it's great even if you don't. XD ) I just added one wing on an Eldar Guardian kinda like Sephiroth did in the movie. Now, I was not planning on giving the Eldar Guardians wings,(Maybe the Aspect warriors...) but I just use them sense they are the cheapest things to practice my convertions on until I get something that I like. Then I gave the leader of the squad.. (Can't rember what you call it....) two wings.
Here are some pics.

What do you guys think of the wings?

Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated as always!!

Thanks!

Chris
