Hello members,

Super new to minis, modeling and collecting, but have been a fan of 40k lore/fluff for a good amount of time.

I've recently found myself with lots of free time after loosing interest in a not to be named MMORPG and have decided to finally take the plunge into 40k.

As I've always had and interest in the Imperial side of the house I picked up a copy of the SM codex. Leaning towards Crimson Fists, Raven Guard, or Raptors... all three very fluff heavy as supposed to min/max competitive. I really dig those chapters based on their history. In the future looking to pair the IG with either one in a very complimenting style based on the allies rules (ie...Raptors with Catachan Jungle Fighters).

Just wondering if those chapters are fairly common (I'm assuming the Fists are) on the table and am I getting in over my head as a beginning modeler/painter with any of those chapters paint scheme.

Either way, glad to be a part of DakkaDakka and hope to bring the end to the enemies of man!!!

Hi there and welcome to Dakka!

From my own -very limited- experience, I'd say that out of those three chapters, the Raptors are the least common. I like the idea you have pairing them up with Catachan allies.
I imagine it would look amazing on the tabletop.

Hi and welcome!
I've never seen a raptor army before so I would assume they are more rare then crimson fist or raven guard. If your completely new to painting the raptor icon may be a bit of a pain to do freehand, unless there is a decal I haven't seen.
