Hello fellow dakka's

I have 2 questions about get hot and rapid fire.

First is, if I rapid fire with a plasma gun, one hits, the other gets hot and I fail my armour save. Does the first shot that hits still count?

Number two, if I rapid fire with sternguard and there get hot ammo and roll two 1s, then fail two armour saves. Can I say both failed from the same guy, so only killing one?

I think I know the answers to these, but just want to make sure.

Cheers

1) yes, the first still connects to my knowledge
2) no, as the current wound pool setup, if he dies from the first wound, you must allocate the second to someone else. (again from memory so you might want to wait for someone else)

Pretre: Are repressors assault vehicles? If they are, I'm gonna need emergency pants.
n0t_u: No, but six can shoot out of it. Other than that it's a Rhino with a Heavy Flamer thrown on if I remember correctly.
Pretre: Thanks! I guess my pants are safe and clean after all.

Due to the wording of Gets Hot! if multiple models within a unit are firing weapons that Gets Hot! you would need to roll each model separately.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

There is no wound pool for gets hot. There is only wounds allocated straight to models, if one model gets 2 1's and a second model rolls 2 6's. Only the 1st model makes armour saves in that scenario, you have no permission to allocate the wound to another model after it was allocated to the model that rolled the 1's.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

This. You avoid all sorts of confusion about which model is wounded if you roll each model separately. It adds *maybe* 10 seconds to the turn, so it's not like your opponent can say you are slow playing.

Back when I used to run a CCS with plasma pistol and 4 plasmaguns, I used to use five different colours of dice just to speed this up. Kept them separate and made it the ccs dice pool.

This also works. Either roll separately or use different dice for each model. Of course you'll need to identify which model is using which dice.
