Warhammer 40,000 Tournament: Battle in the Eye of Terror

Saturday, December 1st - 10:00 am
Game Empire: San Diego

Points Limit:
2,500

Entry Fee:
$15

Battle in the Eye of Terror
This tournament will use these additional rules to maintain theme and promote the glory of the new Chaos Codex.

The Gods are Watching – When ANY character (Grey Knights excluded) kills an enemy character via shooting or close combat (excluding Sweeping Advances) they must immediately roll on the Chaos Boon Table and immediately apply the results. If an enemy character dies as a result of multiple wounds being allocated to it simultaneously, and one or more of those wounds were caused by your character, that character still rolls on the Chaos Boon Table.

Warp Storm – Psykers that suffer Perils of the Warp (and survive) immediately gain 1 Mastery Level, Warp Charge, and generate a new power from one of the following disciplines (randomly determine discipline): Biomancy, Pyromancy, Telepathy. This power may not be swapped for the Primaris Power. Ork Psykers instead roll for an additional power each turn. Psykers that gain an additional power in this manner may fire an additional Witchfire/Psychic Shooting Attack power per turn.

Shrine to Chaos – Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons can purchase a Shrine to Chaos (pg 105) as their fortification(s) for 75 points. Players wishing to do so may use the Warhammer Fantasy “Temple of Skulls” (available at Game Empire!) or custom terrain of a similar size.

The Warp Waits for No One – In games where players do not complete 4 full turns, both players count the game as a loss with 0 points.

Missions
Round 1 - Big Guns Never Tire (page 128)
Round 2 - The Scouring (page 129)
Round 3 - Purge the Alien (page 127)

Mysterious Objectives
Missions in Round 1 and 2 use the following table for Mysterious Objectives

Round times? How long is each round, considering the hard 4 turn rule that is an important bit of info, i am in favor of the hard turn 4 rule btw. Amount of time for lunch?

Does GE San Diego have a place with comprehensive rulings on currently unresolved rules questions like Game Empire Pasadena? If so where can we find it? If not do you plan on having some rulings up prior to the event or should we just pose specific questions here?

Side note: Forge World units must use the Forge World model.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

I have noticed a lot of local tournaments adopting this standard in an effort to cut down on the number of people abusing the more powerful FW combos. It is sort of a built in comp system where if you can afford to buy, for example, 9 Sabre Defense Platforms from FW then you can bring them but if you can't afford it then too bad. Not exactly fair when you aren't demanding all models be GW models as well, or if you're allowing "counts as" and conversions in other regards then why not for FW...

I wish I could make this one.

Looks like fun and I like the extra flavor rules.

If you have something cool and ask to use it, I'll probably allow it. I shall update my rules to include the Rule of Cool!
I included this to cut down on possible confusion, not to cut down on FW usage.

I was hoping to just link to the GE: Pasadena rulings, but I can't seem to find them. Do you have a link? If not, ask away!

Glad to hear about the rule of cool. I am not really in favor of using FW but if you're going to allow it I feel scratch builds and awesome conversions of FW units should be allowed.

Here are the GE: Pasadena rulings. If you want any help with that you can contact Disdainful from there he runs their tournaments and he really knows his stuff.

Hopefully I'll be there with my Dark Angels. I have some converted contemptor-mortis dreadnoughts that may need approval though.
