Hi Dakka Dakka!
My first experience with wargaming was back in 2004-2005 when I dabbled in LoTR with a friend, but after a short time said friend and I got to know and love Warhammer Fantasy. I started out playing Dark Elves, but for some reason that I could not fathom I kept losing, so I decided to switch to Dwarfs. I found them much easier to play and continued collecting them over the years, but I also bought a lot of cheaper non-GW models and never really got much painting done (I'd say less than 1/4 of my army was painted) since I saw that part of the hobby as a necessary evil. After a couple of years, when I got into college and had less time on my hands, I unfortunately stopped playing.
A couple of months ago the above friend asked me if I wanted to play a game of Warhammer or two, just for old times sake. I did, but though I still had my incoherent and mostly gray Dwarf army I couldn't find my rulebook anywhere, so I soon found myself standing in the new GW shop in my city (there hadn't been one back when I last played, only a couple of general wargaming stores) deciding on either buying the Dwarf army book again or starting a new army altogether. After a long talk with the salesman, I decided to start fresh with Skaven, an army I had always felt a strange fascination for, even though I'd never seen them in action since there was nobody in our club playing them back in the days. This inspired two of my friends, the one mentioned above and the one I had sold my Dark Elves to years ago, to start with new armies as well, and now we are all completely hooked on the hobby again. This time, I'm even enjoying the painting and modeling aspect, which is probably a good thing considering I now have a horde army.
What brought me to Dakka Dakka was a Google search for WFB tactics, because over the past couple of months I've discovered that my lack of proper movement tactics was what held me back with Dark Elves before and with Skaven now. I've already learned a lot in my short time reading this forum and I'm looking forward to sharing my army, exploring fluff and discussing tactics with you all.
