Deathstar:
Karandras.
Eldrad Ulthran.
Wraithguard (X10) and spirit seer with conceal as troops choice.
Troops:
Guardians (X10 with starcannon) and warlock with conceal.
Dire avengers (X10 with exarch,
BS and assault 4 shuriken catapult) and farseer (fortune, guide, ROW and
SS's).
Rangers (X5 pathfinders).
Heavy support:
Fireprism.
Wraithlord (
EML and starcannon).
War walker unit (Full starcannons,
SL dakka seems uneffective with armor save AND
FNP).
Elites:
Fire dragons (X2 squads of 5 with exarchs and fire pikes) both mounted in wave serpents.
Striking scorpions (X6 with exarch and scorps claw).
Fast attack:
Warp spiders (5 with exarch and duel
DS's).
My plan is to push the deathstar straight down the middle with support from the wraithlord, race up the flanks with fire dragons and take out his armor and devastators, distract him with deep striking spiders and hopefully batter him from mid-long range while avoiding his deep striking termies and assault squads. Mephiston is also a concern (unload prism fire and starcannons/hope ROW or Ulthran with his 2+ wounding can offset him). Hopefully enough armor negating star cannon fire can offset his
FNP too.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I think the wraithguard deathstar is good if you give the warlock conceal so that they have a re-rollable cover save.
I dislike the star cannons on the War Walkers. The bread makers driving them are gakky shooters so bring
SLs because they have more shots. It will be worth your while. Also
FNP is no longer ignored by low
AP weapons so it makes the extra dakka even more valuable.
I wouldn't recommend taking a single fireprism and a single wraithlord. Both of those units work best in pairs for the duplicity. I strongly recommend either bringing two fire prisms without upgrades or taking two gun-platform wraithlords with
BL,
EML, and 2x flamers. I use this loadout and it has terrific versatility. Remember that you can do precision shots with the Wraithlords shooting attacks on a 6!
I don't recommend taking striking scorpions unless they are hiding in terrain with the rangers... even then... prepare to be eaten alive by whirlwind tanks if your opponent brings one. Generally harlequins are better than striking scorpions vs.
MEQ.
