Here is an easy way t paint a Deff Skull ork boy. I use this method on all my boys and I find that it turns out good and is pretty fast.

Here are the paints I used (they are all citadel paints):
-Chaos Black (just for priming)
-Warboss Green
-XV-88
-Tau Light Ochre (yes I know its ironic)
-Teclis Blue
-Leadbelcher
-Agrax Earthshade

I will start by showing you the finished product, then I will walk you through the process step by step, photo by photo. Enjoy

Add warboss green to all the skin areas

Add XV-88 over all of the clothes except for the straps on the arms or weapons

Add leadbelcher to all the metallic places

[Thumb - IMG_0693.JPG]
Add tau light ochre to all of the straps

Add teclis blue to random straps or buckles (I like adding a drybrush over the face as face paint

[Thumb - IMG_0698.JPG]
Wash the agrax earthshade over the whole model (I take it easy on the skin to avoid black splotches but add some shading)

Hope you enjoyed!

Thanks for the tutorial, although I have to say that the completed model is very...underwhelming. I will try and provide some feedback, but please do not take it too personally as it is a little harsh:

First of all the painting is incredibly basic - no highlights, no layering, no techniques at all to speak of save for 'apply base colours then wash'. No detail work on the eyes or teeth, nothing! If you are going to post a quick 'n' dirty tutorial I would suggest introducing a 'cheat' technique that lets a gamer churn out models quickly whilst still retaining a solid finish. What you've done is essentially dipping - you've just used a brush instead of fully submerging it.

Also the picture quality makes it very difficult to notice any discernible difference in the last two shots. A decent camera and lighting setup will go a long way to improving the overall quality of your future tutorials.

You should consider the value of getting models painted quickly in a short amount of time, though. Painted armies which are basic are going to better than armies which have a couple of guys painted to GD standard.

I do - and I have no problem with models that are painted quickly in a short space of time. I just think that if someone is going to post a tutorial of their method of painting they should look at finishing the model prior to doing so and sadly, in my opinion, the above model does not classify as finished.

With a horde army, I don't want to put too much detail and time into every single boy. This is my standard for a boy in my army, and I believe it meets table-top standards. Red eyes or teeth would not be noticed in game play, so for the basic boy I find no need to include them.

At least do the teeth. The head is the focal point of a mini and painting the teeth doesn't take many minutes.

The Tick: Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you've got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.
