I am looking at a support unit for my Blood Angel army (only on paper so far) (Libby, preist, 2x 10assault squad - 700pts)

I am trying to decide between these to units: (150 points max) (I want 2 of the same)

Predator - Lascannon Sponsors, Storm Bolter (145)

Stormtalon - Twinlinked lascannon (150)

Before all the replies start telling me that blood angels can't have stormtalons yet, I had better mention that; where I play they don't mind (casual gaming club for the win).

Therefore in your opinion which one would you choose and why?

I'd generally agree, however for 300 pts and only getting 2 shots for 2 units. It seems a bit lackluster.

Yes, if you're going to limit it to 1 gun due to points. Not sure how much the Talon costs to have an assault cannon + Lascannon.

2 twin linked guns that are Hard to Hit. At a points level where AA is few and far between.

Personally I'd leave them with assault cannons, but that's just me.

Are you misunderstanding me or am I misunderstanding you (no hard feelings)

I only mentioned the upgrades to both units:

145 - Predator (Autocannon, lascannon sponsors, stormbolter)

150 - Stormtalon (twin-linked assault cannon, twin-linked lascannon)

I misremembered the upgrades on the Stormtalon.
So AssCan + LasCan vs AC + 2 LasCan.
Ones Hard to Hit, the other is AV 13.

I'd go with the former.

If I had to take a tank:
I would take two baal preds.
That or three autocannon-only preds and some scouts or something like that.

But personally, I'd take two squads of 5 devs with MLs and a foot priest (if I can shave the 10 extra points somewhere)

Well I am only looking at preds and stormtalons at to moment (in this thread)

Yeah. +1 to the baal predator.

However for the options you listed, I would choose the stormtalon over predator, but how about one of each?

Take one AC/Lascannon Pred, and one Baal Pred with TL ASC and Heavy Bolter sponsons.

With the Libby, Priest and 2x assault squads you will want something to kill hordes and vehicles.

Or go 2x Stormtalon with TL ASC and the skyhammer missiles, the Assault cannon outshines the single lascannon against almost every vehicle and is better against hordes and MC's.

Given your scenario, I'd go double talons.

Don't give the Talons lascannons. Give them Typhoon Missile Launchers instead. The TL-assault cannon is already superior to the TL-lascannon in every way, the Typhoon Missile Launcher gives it even better duality with its role. Being effective against infantry and vehicles.
