This is a game of purge the alien, with dawn of war deployment using my eldar against chaos space marines. I decide to try out a pheonix lord to see what they are like in 6th edition and the results where mixed.

Interesting report. I'm also playing an Eldar/DE list so it is always interesting to see how others are playing them.

One thing you noticed was the amount of shooting your oppopnent had vs your tanks. The only two things I can think of to try and defend against this would be:

-Get the 5+ inv save for your Raider and place him sideways and put your other tanks somewhat behind it. This will give you and inv and/or cover save for all the vehicles.
-Put the tanks into reserve. You won't get to shoot in the first turn, or possibly the second turn, but when you lose the tanks first turn, what's the harm? Plus, by reserving you pretty much guarantee one turn of shooting, a 5+ jink save and can position your tanks as to try and avoid some return fire.

Good report. Thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Fuegan or Maugan Ra have alot more damage output then Karandras because they can shoot as well. Fuegan's a tad more fighty with the ability to S10 smash and FNP where as Maugan Ra gets more rending shots (ignoring cover) with his Maugetar, as well as a S6 AP3 power weapon.

Fortune + Harliequins makes a really nice unit to accompany the Phoenix Lord as well.

Great Report! It was always going to be a tough fight with Chaos having the new Codex.
I look forward to reading the next.

Peace Out!

That darned first turn! Your phoenix lord really went to town on those poor marines though.

For me you never had a chance with that terrain set up.

DE especially and also Eldar need LoS blocking terrain, venom with AV 10 and 2 HP was always a gonner unless you can hide it, and the Eldar stuff can't take much punishment either. When your transports do ge blown up you're gonna lose a lot of models to the explosions too.

Compare that to your opponent with 2+ termie armour saves, oblits with MoN and the 3+ PA save. I refuse to play with my DE unless there is lots of LoS blocking terrain otherwise it just isn't a contest, usually my venoms/tansports don't get to be shot at until turn 3 when they pop out to do their thing.

Yer unfortunatly i dont own much los blocking terrain so i do with what i can for the time being. It is on my to do list.

So if i could have hidden my tanks from the beginning you recon the game would have changed greatly?
