Plaguebearer with a Flu

Was wondering which one would be better to purchase (if I was not splitting the IOB box)...

What are the total pt values between the two boxes (HE side)? I do not want to run a horde army (unless it is orks)....

In your opinion which is the better buy???

Thanks ALOT!!!

The Battalion is better.

IoB is ok, but sadly the Griffon is useless and Sea Guard are overpriced.

IoB:
Prince on Griffon: 350 min

Mage: 100-225 min depending if he's a Lord or Hero

LSG full command, w/ shields: 155

Swordmasters, full command: 180

Ellyrian Reavers, bows, commander: 112

So thats 897 minimum

Battalion:
Spearmen, full command: 195

Archers, full command: 245

Tiranoc chariot: 85

Bolt Thrower: 100

625 total.

IoB falls to closer to the battalion points if you don't use the Prince on Griffon. I think its a more difficult call on which is better. Swordmasters are super kill-y, and you'll most likely use a mage. Plus, its pretty easy to convert the griffon w/o a rider & use it as an eagle. The other option is a hideous metal paper weight. Min/max people don't like Reavers or LSG, but I've heard of people using & doing well with LSG.

The battalion gives you a solid Core. Some people only use archers, some use spearmen, it depends on the army. Chariots are super popular, and bolt throwers have fallen out of use.

I guess if you want to play games with only one box I suggest the battalion, but you'll still need a Lord model. I think IoB is a really good value though.

The IoB Griffon is plastic. No paperweight for you.

I think at the end of the day, if you're just starting out the IoB box is pretty good (what with the rulebook and all ) and you can sell off the other army if you don't need them.

Otherwise, as above, it'll really depend on what you actually want.

I started off with 2 IOB boxes for my high elf army and converted both griffons into great eagles. The extra command can be a bit annoying on the sea guard but just put them in the back so they get cleared first. In small games i like to run the sword masters in two smaller squads any way so that works good. I dont use the reavers as the eagles do a better job IMO. The mages are good and the rule book is priceless. Very nice models aswell.
Later though you will want to expand with phoenix guard, white lions and dragon princes and then you have quite an army.

Actually, it's around £18
