That's pretty cool! Finally that investment in the life size power-armor will pay off!

GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.

I'm from the future. The future of space

The final product is quite nice (though expensive).

3d printing technology is only going to get better. While I don't expect it to drastically change miniature sales any more than home printers did for printed books, it will have an impact. Just like tablets, ereaders and good quality computer screens changed the PDF and ebook markets.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

As soon as 3d printing at a miniature standard becomes affordable for everyone, GW is out of the business - buy 1 box, get unlimited boxes out of it!

That is called piracy and is illegal.

Anyway, this is awesome. It's also not creepy in the way personalized action figures can be. Well done Japan, you did this right!

Everyone knows its piracy. That is obvious. It doesn't change the fact that once this technology becomes easily accessible that this is going to be a serious problem for a lot of miniature companies.

Back on topic though I thought this was pretty impressive though currently it is rather expensive. But things usually get cheaper and smaller in the future.

I can not resist. Though I do believe the technology just had a technological leap with this new piece of advancement.

That's what I'm afraid of as well. I wonder if such a problem could be offset if miniature companies lower their prices.

Only way eventually may be to embrace it

You don't sell models, you sell blueprints cheeply, you sell the rule books, the updates, the fluff

Story packs, scenario updates....You switch the focus to the content and engage peoples support...and making awesome sculps

At the start you stay ahead of the curve, the 3d printer can only produce X quality for Y price, you keep your quality above what can be produced for the price and while cheap knock offs are out there they are just that.

But eventually the technology marches on and you'll make 1 sale per group - 5/6 firends are likely to group together but if you're selling the design at the $5 equivilant and sale 10,000 that's likely still going to see a profit....and people will pay some money towards people who arn't milking them...

The big loosers will be the online stores.....

At least that's how I see this evolving, may be a smaller thing as GWs straglehold will end up broken - but we're decades off that - and who knows what will step up in that time

When you are that big you get a serious case of "front-butt" in which your fat folds in on itself from the belly button down.

There's a guy of simular size who frequents our local store and the only way you can tell what direction he's headed is due to his face, his front and back features look pretty much the same. (and he waddles everywhere) ::shudder::

I believe that he's talking about the picture of the figure from the article, but thanks for the funny reply.

They have to react somehow. GW has ridiculously high prices and thus drastically provokes any sort of potential piracy...rest be assured, this does not belong on dakka. But piracy will happen and if GW keeps their price / increases...it's gonna happen. Furthermore: GW's current policy is to not let people play, but rather get more new players in. High prices and alienating customers with 3d printers on the rise...well, sounds like idiocy to me. But hey, it's GW.

Doh! I thought he was referencing the fat man pic, the printed model also has something up with it's pants front. Mangina?
