So pretty much every ork player I see agrees having a big mek with kff is mandatory for protecting our footsloggers, but I just wanted to know what stops the enemy from focusing fire on the other half or more of the squad that isnt benefitting from it.

I suppose if you had the part of the squad that is benefiting from it out in the open while the rest is behind cover it would work, but that just seems like too of an infrequent situation to be relying upon. please let me know what you think.

Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.

They can't focus fire on you because your whole unit gets the +5 save.

Read the entry. It's not per model. It's per unit. Even if only one boy in the mob is in range, the whole mob gets the save.

So you're completely safe from any focus fire shenanigans.

Indeed, which is why it's affective for a footslogger army. Just one model from each unit needs to be in range, and the entire unit gets the save.

Squadrons, unfortunately, don't benefit in the same way - for them it's only the models in range get the save.
