what shade are you going for?

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Grey and light blue is usually what I do. Since they don't show too much skin it shouldn't be that hard to experiment, find a shade you like and just go crazy with it

The skin differs greatly depending on the armor color scheme,
a complementary color can make a miniature look that much better.

So what color do you want to paint the armor?

The shade I always found as the best base was Shadow Grey, now called The Fang, if you're using Citadel. After that I'd use a dark blue wash or ink like Drakenhof Nightshade, but I'm not sure about that last part

Likewise, I've used codex grey with an asurmen blue wash to good effect. It's quick and simple, particularly given the small amount of flesh Tau models display.

I had done the old space wolves grey and asmuren blue wash, and it looked great.

On that note, anyone know a good replacement for asmuren blue wash?
