Do targets struck by lightning still get a cover save?

Where would you be drawing los from? Is it a shooting attack?
|
Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did. |

I'm not really sure how to classify the lightning as shooting attack or not. In the codex it doesn't refer as the lightning as a shooting attack, but something that is done during the necron shooting phase.
In the Necron FAQ, units struck by lightning do not benefit from stealth and shrouded. This is why I assuming that units are struck by lightning do benefit from cover saves by battlements and other sources.
As for the actual los, I have seen multiple threads stating that the lightning is directed from the sky and doesnt not require los in order to use it.

Units do not benefit from stealth and shrouded due to night fighting as per FAQ, Very open to speculation as far as cover from other sources. The group i play with housed it to provide cover off area terrain and special abilities that provide cover sources "venomthropes for example" We do not however give any sort of LOS cover. Until the ability is properly FAQd theres not much more you can do but house rule it.

Only abilties that specifically give a cover save. No line of sight based cover.
So only Area Terrain and special rules like Jink or a KFF.

Would you still receive a cover save from battlements such as the aegis defense line?

Battlements require obscurement, so no.

Fast response.
Thanks. Automatically Appended Next Post: Out of curiosity because lightning is not a shooting attack, how do you allocate wounds? Would it be based off random allocation?
