I am in from Nebraska, and I'll be here for another few days and normally I don't have much time at night to travel around, but I am getting bored.

Any good game shops in the San Jose/Sunnyvale/Mountain View/Milpitas/Cupertino area? I am planning on hitting a Games Workshop store, just to look. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to visit while I am in town?

Kazwulf some suggestions. On Friday nights if you can make it out to Fremont there is Fremont Game Kastle. The staff is excellent and there is generally a decent 40k group there.

There is a GW in Union Landing run by Rob who is pretty good guy and runs a tight shop. Sadly the GW in Alamo is no longer in business or I would recommend going there since the store was awesome and the staff some of the best I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

It all depends on what you are looking into doing. If you want to get into a GW game and you are in the South Bay I would in all honesty suggest going out to Game Kastle Fremont and talking to Seth he will set you up right and help you with anything hobby related you need help with. The man is a god send.
