Hi, I am still pondering over the support for my blood angel army
This is what I have so far:

175 - Epistolary, Jumpack

075 - Sanguinary priest, jump pack

225 - Assault squad, 2x meltagun, power weapon
225 - Assault squad, 2x meltagun, power weapon

700 points so far.

That leaves 300 points for support. Any suggestions?????
I would like two identical units (one to support each squad - 150pts each)

I've been looking at, Predators, Baal Predators, Landspeeders, & stormtalons (even though BA can't use them) but I am open to all ideas.

All suggestions much appreciated - Thanks

I could claim that the army list forum is for full army lists which are posted for members to analyse and review the entire army.

The description for the Army list is (and I Quote) "Post and review 40K army lists"

Therefore I can claim that as I am just looking for advice on the support aspect and I do not want suggestions on the rest of my army then the general discussion is a valid forum.

Srsly though, a Predator with the 3 lascannons would help your list against mech a lot, and a Baal Predator would help your list against infantry, which would also help your list a lot. Take one of each.

2 vindicators? Blood Angel vindicators are really scary for opponents and their short range fits in with your assault oriented army. Bringing in 2 vehicles will draw them a LOT of anti-tank fire, so odds are they're not going to survive very long... You could always take devestators?

Here's what I came up with:

Epistolary w/wings of sanguinius + one more power.

Furioso Dread w/blood talons, drop pod

Furioso Dread w/blood talons, drop pod

Priest w/JP

Assault Squad w/power sword, 2x melta

Assault Squad w/power sword, 2x melta

EDIT:

Personally, though in my experience FNP is no longer worth the 75 points you pay for it. The Priest is too easy to take out, and 5+ is just too dang unreliable.

Unit selection also often falls under Tactics, so I've moved the thread there.

I like the Furiosos in pods idea. You could even consider equipping them with frag assault cannon, blood fist, and heavy flamer. With the new improved rules for deployment out of pods, and with fewer opponents hiding their whole army in transports, those three high-strength template weapons can deal a lot of damage.

Alternately, the vindicators would be fun. They'd be decent anti-troop and can pop vehicles too.

Personaly, I'd go with the Dreds.
Dreads with blood talons with rip through infantry
(Also, its totally slipping my mind and a rulebook is not handy. Are LC's ap2?)
Just drop one next to some infantry and rip some stuff up!
Something like this could work
Furisoso Dreadnought- Blood talons, underslung HF's and a pod
Fursioso Dreadnought- bloodfist, underslung Meltagun, Magna grapple, pod.
Dread one will kill infantry, dread two will kill tanks.

As I see it, you have a specific gap to fill. You already have anti-tank in the meltaguns, and you should have enough attacks from 2 Assault squads to take on mobs. Though some more anti-mob firepower would be nice, you're ultimately missing something more - something to deal with high armour saves, like Terminators.

To that end I would take 2 Vindicators or some Devastators armed with plasma cannons. Or, you could keep to the jump-pack theme and take an Honour Guard for the Librarian armed with plasma guns - he can also take Prescience which would allow rerolls for Gets Hot!.

Some options to ponder:

1.) Furioso Dreadnought w/ Blood Talons in a Drop pod & a Dreadnought in a Drop Pod - 300 points
- drop these using DoA in front of an entrenched Tau force or an advancing Ork line.

The Tau will get their LoS screwed up, making them focus their shooting on the Dreadnoughts or break formation to find squishier targets, giving your jump units time to get close.
The Orkz will have to either face the Furioso, which, if based on Miniwargamer Dan's first encounter with Blood Talons, is a very bad idea, or double back / move around the Dreadnoughts, exposing their flank or screwing their charge up.
Don't use against Genestealers. No matter how strong a Dreadnought is, Rending rules hurt.

2.) A fully pimped out Stormraven Gunship
- you can rarely go wrong with a Stormraven Gunship. You can probably DS it with an Assault Marine Squad and the Priest and rain shots against your enemies.

3.) Two Baal Predators fully equipped with flames!
- two fully pimped out Baal Predators filled with flesh-burning, armour-melting, marshmallow searing... *drools* marshmallows... smores...

Great against infantry swarms such as Tyranids, Orkz, Soulless Mindless Fanatically Twisted Doorbell pushing Zealots who worship a Polygamous SoaB etc...

4.) DEATH COMPANY
- 7 Death Company with Jump Packs and an assortment of power weapons / fists
- Lemartes and 5 Death Company with Jump Packs and a Power Weapon and Power Fist

For scaring the hell out of your squishy opponents. Always be the one to charge as,

- if you're eyeing Option 1, you get HoW (7 S4 AP- To Wound Rolls) and 42 WS5 S5 I4 AP3 attacks. This assumes you took power swords as power fists punch at a different Initiative step.
7 x (2 Base Attacks + 1 Charge Attack + 1 Close Combat Weapon + 2 Rage attacks) = 42

- if you're eyeing Option 2, you get HoW (6 S4 Ap- To Wound Rolls) and 30 WS5 S5 I4 AP3 attacks from the Death Company and
6 WS5 S7 I6 AP4 Concussive attacks from Lemartes which become 9 S8 (all other stats the same) attacks if he's wounded. Not to mention you can re-roll all failed To Hit and To Wound rolls because of the Liturgies of Blood.

Obviously, I prefer the Death Company and the Baal Predators. Nothing says Blood Angels like these two units.

P.S.
MEPHISTON FOR 250 POINTS!!!

NON CANON

Nonbeing, that is to say, everything.

I would go with 2 Baals with HB. They are great vs Light infantry, deal a solid amount of damage, are decent anti-air, and you already have 4 meltas so dont really need more AT, but your AI is lacking.
I wouldn't advise a flamer, because these are usually suicide: Against orcs, you flame, many die - then the remaints charge up and glance you to death with s4 on your rear armor. Against almost anyone this will happen. I only take them if I have 3 total, in which case suiciding one isnt that big a deal.

You could take a raven, and other than the Baal with AC/HB i think this is the best choice. 1) you have an obvious anti-flier 2) its completely awesome 3) why the hell not?

I dont like DC with packs just cuz of the cost, I would wait til 1500 and put them in the raven.

On the dread question, the problem with having 2 drop pods is only 1 comes down t1. I always like to have an odd number to abuse this rule and have more come on early to be more devestating, I would either take 3 pods, 1, or none (at these points).

BTW, i wouldnt take epistolary TBH its overpriced, and at that point Mephy is completely worth the 100 pts. i just think that the first 50 arent worth it...

My 2 cents:

Lose the epistolary status and keep the jump pack. Give him Unleash Rage and Shield of Sanguinius

Add a Stormraven with whatever loadout you feel is appropriate

5 DC with 1 powerfist and 1 power weapon in the storm raven

stick the Sang Priest with one assault squad and the libby with the other.

this brings you to 990 points.

-or-

Keep the epistolary

add 2 baal preds with assault cannon and heavy bolters

and again you'll have 990.

Maybe some melta bombs?

Crimson Fist 5th Company - 2000 pts

Great thanks for all the input,

I am tossing up between the furioso's in drop pods or the baal's w/ heavy bolters
