I've got an idea for a flag that could be set by the original poster of a topic which would mark that thread as 'in progress'.

Threads marked as 'in progress' would only be visible to the poster (and mods, if so desired), so would not show up in forum indexes or Recent Posts lists.

The poster would still see these in-progress posts in their subscription list, and would be able to edit the post (like they can now).

Use case:

When preparing any large post, usually battle and tournament reports, it would be nice to be able to save my work and come back to it later, without showing the unfinished product to everyone else. This is especially useful for people, like me, who have multiple machines that we work on, and so notepad isn't a viable alternative. I'd like to be able to mark these longer posts as in-progress, and continue to work on them, then remove the flag when the post is ready for consumption.

I'm kind of working around this by sending myself PMs with my current work in them, but it feels inefficient and may end up consuming more resources to do it this way.

While it is a nice idea, the overhead to implement it (hiding posts at every possible point where posts are mentioned, and adding an additional filter to every single database query that deals with posts) is very significant. I dont think it would be used by more than a couple of dozen people realistically, and as such would not be worthwhile implementing it. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
