I'm going to get to do a lot of traveling in 2013.

What are the top tournaments in the US?

... in the UK?

... in Europe?

Thanks in advance.

All the UK events are posted here:

I could name you all the big/well respected tournaments but it depends on when you would be in the UK to be honest. The 2013 seasons qualifying heats for the Grand UK GT have all been and gone, which is the biggest, but we have plenty throughout the year just as big etc.

Most of the events are listed in Blackmoor's thread pinned at the top of this forum.

I don't know what "top" means ... everyone has different preferences. SOME major/significant/popular events with hundreds of attendees include, in no particular order:

Bay Area Open (March, I think), in California (west)
AdeptiCon (April), in Chicago, IL (northcentral)
ATC, if you have a team (late May), in Chattanooga, TN (Southeast)
WargamesCon (July), in Austin, TX (southcentral)
NOVA Open (last weekend Aug/first in Sep), in Washington, DC (mideast)
Feast of Blades (Oct), in Denver, CO (midwest/central)
DaBoyz (Nov), in Rochester, NY (northeast)

If you're talking about well-regarded/tough and/or very fun GT's in general, the list is dramatically longer. The above list represents at a glance some of the bigger events, each of which is very unique from the other, yet each of which is widely loved and well-regarded by those who've attended.

Also, most of the event organizers of these and other significant US events post on these forums, and are quite accessible. If you ask about an event in particular, chances are decent an organizer or staffer will see them and reply either privately or publicly as requested. You'll also find that most event organizers are classy guys, who actively discourse with and support their fellow organizers. They're the best ones to talk to without getting useless trash-talk of other event formats.
