Is the new VC megaforce a good way to start a VC army? I've wanted to jump into WHFB for awhile now and it seems like a good buy. Is there a better way to start a VC army?

It's not half bad. I don't imagine you'll see much use out of the Lord on Dragon if tournaments are your thing but he's fantastic fun in casual games. Everything else you can expect to be useful in anything.

The only thing is you'll need to massively bulk out your core to play games. So expect to need to buy lots of ghouls/skeletons/zombies in addition to the army. Probably also need to buy a few Vampire characters.

Change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither God nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

No game of chess can be won without pawns, and this may prove to be a very long game.

It is pretty good value but like battleforces it doesn't give you enough core. If you think you'll use everything in there (not hard considering half of the stuff is duel kits) then it is great.

You'll need a lot more core though, fanatsy is a game of blocks of 40 guys hitting each other this edition.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

It's a good start, but it's desperately low on Core.

You get choices on how you want to run your Lord - Vampire on Coven Throne (hero or lord), Vampire on Zombie Dragon (lord), Strigoi Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (lord), Necromancer (hero or lord). Whatever you choose, you'll have a Rare from the other kit, either a Terrorgheist or Mortis Engine.

You get a nice taste of some of the other things the army has. Black Knights or Hexwraiths, Vargheists or Crypt Horrors, a Corpse Cart (which can be used as a mount for your Necromancer). It has some core with the skeletons and Ghouls, and has zombies to raise.

The main issue is it's not very focused. It's a taste of a lot of what the army has available, but that's it. It makes it a good starter if you take it as that, a starter. Out of the box, you won't be able to do much for it, but it lays great groundwork for expanding on.
