My first bit of advice would be to convert or scratch build them. You can easily resin cast extra weapon bits and use something like a plastic cup for the base (Trimmed down to match the height of course)

I have never seen someone use them, and I know that a lot of people are biased against them. If I wasn't so busy with other projects I would have made my own by now. Honestly I think they are good.

The rules state you either pay 20 points for a team wide shield generator or 5 ppm for deepstrike.

I'd personally run 1 unit of 4 drones in the backfield with Missile pods as an anti-air platform and anti-light vehicle. Shooting at fliers only takes their accurracy down by half in comparison to suits and they get 8 missiles vice 6.

Either that or deep strike a unit of 4 with the plasma option and give your opponent a real nasty wall to get past.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Dont they get deepstrike for free now though, anything immobile held in reserves can deepstrike.
I agree with savage though in that the best use i can see is as a deathrain alternative, suicide melta would be interesting but if they scatter off they are completely useless for the rest of the game.

Do they need to be deployed together as a squad or are you allowed to place them separate like the sniper teams?

There (sadly) isn't a rule that comes close to touching this issue. And that kind of sucks, because as artillery, they have to follow Infantry coherency (2") rather then Vehicle coherency (4"), I think.
