ok so ive loved the Thousand sons ever since i started playing 40k. in the 4th Ed. CSM book they were pretty good but now in the 6th ed. Codex they are Expensive...Expensive to the max!
So this is a 2000 pt list i made. im trying to go for a tough. semi competitive list. cuz in tourneys...i stood no chance!

You are going to absolutely trash MEQ. 2 bale flamers+3 units of sons is nasty. You are going to have problems with land raiders and the like...melta bombs wont really change that.

Might want to consider some oblit's instead of a third forgefiend(although 3 is pretty nuts) to field some heavy guns. Could even give em mark of tzeenech for fluff rules.

Protect your sorcerers, and you should come out okay unless you see spam armor or giant hordes.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

At 2k points, I run myself

Ahriman(?++)
5 man termi - MoT, CF, PA x4, Combi melta (4++)
3x 8 man squads (4++)
1x 9 man squad (4++)
2 Helturkies - bale flamers
2x 2 obliterators - MoT 4+ invul for only 2 more points over the old one? Why yes they do look nice in pairs.

That leaves you 150 points, hand out rhinos and you are set!

My list aside, nice list but 2 forgefiends is plenty I feel. Chuck another helturkey in there or a 4th squad.

Chaos bikers with 2 melta guns in a squad of 4, drop the 4th member for marks.

Hmm. That looks pretty nasty. AP3 everywhere!

I agree with dropping the third Forgefiend. Use the points to grab you two or three Oblits, and maybe upgrade the other two Fiends to have Ectocannons, since the only thing you have to worry about right now is Terminators.
Oh, and if you have Oblits you can use Ahriman's warlord trait to infiltrate them close enough to nuke some Land Raiders >

This list is a solid list.

Would probably drop a single Forgefiend for 2 large units of Cultists so that your Tsons can do what they do instead of wasting time (and an invulnerable) on objectives in cover. Thousand Sons are best disembarked and out in the open. Cultists can be home claimers. Please please please shoot these cultists... Instead of the d3 infiltrating units of Tsons next to you.

If not the cultists, please please please shoot your plasma guns at all these disembarked Thousand Sons.

Ahriman is a solid HQ. May you always roll Enfeeble, Life Leech, Smite and Doombolt.

wait....You can Infiltrate Forgefiends??!!!! if that is the case...... let the pain fly.. but the main reason why i want the 3 Forgefeinds with Hades is because i want to use them for vehicle hunting and Horde Control. and the 2 Heldrakes will swoop from the skies and torch objective holders or vector strike the hell outta flyer threats. Thousand sons run around and hold Objectives. that is the main idea... but ectoplasma..... i love the power but the range is so short and AV12 wouldnt hold up long enough to get in range right? to much to gamble with but i will post up another list with the Cultist ideas.

I would drop the 3 Forgefiends for a mix of Vindicators and Defilers. throw some blasts around. S10 Ordnance is miles better than BS3 S8 IMO. No matter how many shots you have. Much cheaper for Vindi's as well.

Since some of the army's strengths have been listed already I will point out it's major weakness, although you are probably aware of it already.

As your opponent in an objective scenario, your two rhinos would be target priority so my small arms fire can have a target and clean up your Ksons. The only time your ksons aren't overpriced is when facing foot marines at range, other than that they die as easily as units half their price.

You have a fluffy Ksons force that isn't very optimized for sucess. My suggestions are look at more, slightly smaller Kson squads, look at cheaper a Hq option (Ahriman is cool, but too expensive for what he does), and consider at least one unit of cultists if you can anchor them with a high LD character. I also agree with the need for higher strength firepower, you really don't want to try and depend on 3-4 pseudo-psychic melta guns to take out heavy armor. Oblits would make a decent option over the third FF. Credit to the above posters who pointed some of this out already.

Alternatively, you can just play your flufffy Ksons and have fun with it. It does look fun to play, but IMO it doesn't look that hard to beat.

I tried 3 vindicators before. then i entered Tournament and the whole list depended upon the vindies to take out have targets. but just couldnt get there in time to fire.
i see the 3 Forgefeinds as a much better option, and i will think on stuffing a couple Cultists in there some how. so they can come and steal an Objective
