My friend uses black Templars, and I have an army with a lot of psyker abilities and options. He doesn't allow me to uses psykers agains him, because black Templars hate the warp, etc etc.

Is this right?? If its not, can someone tell me where it is so I can show him. Thanks

The onus is on him to provide the proof. Ask him, very politely, to see the page in his codex that forbids you from using powers against him.

Personally I don't own the Black Templars codex but my gut feeling tells me he probably can't just outright block you from using pyschic powers.

edit - my pyschic powers are telling me that the Black Templars may not ally with anyone who has pycher powers, but there's no special rule about their enemy's pyscher powers.

Black templars cannot ally with psykers, they hate the witch not they are immune to the witch.

They are certainly not immune to psykers. I think they may have a better defence against psychic abilities, but certainly are not immune.

Although it would be a handy skill if you could deny an enemy from using a weapon just because you don't like it much...

Is there a better resistance than? Do I need higher level psykers ? Or is it a lower roll for 'deny the witch'?

He is completely trying to hose you.

The biggest thing with Templars and psykers is if the Emperor's Champion takes the Abhor the Witch vow, units may nullify the effects of psychic powers on a 5+. As this is a rarely used vow, it is unlikely he happened to take it unless he declared it on his army list, as vows are paid for like wargear.

I think I'm going to play Tyranids and tell my opponent that because I don't have vehicles, he's not allowed to use any, either.

You'd be surprised how often that works.

Yup, he is misquoting a rule that prevents 'him' from fielding any psyker allies (except grey knights, for some reason) with his black templars.

There is nothing in their (the BT) codex which would prevent the players he is facing from fielding and using against him anything which is legal for them to field, including psykers.

So i'd have to agree: The next time he suggests such? Politely ask him to show you the rule in his codex that is allowing him to do so. He will be unable to show you it, and you can proceed as normal.

This is why I lose with my Nids all the time? I haven't been assertive enough as to my choice of opponents?
