Recently I've realised that I own far too many unpainted minatures. To give you an idea of how bad it is I own a tyranid amry, Ork army, Eldar army, Space Marine amy, Orc and Goblin army and a Dwarf army of varying sizes and I would estimate 1% is painted. It's a poor show. The problem is with christmas on the way I've asked for more minatures to add to my armies (I'm also tempted to start a chaos Space Marine army or an Ogres army. I think I must be mad.) I'm using the excuse that I'm too busy with other commitments to find time to paint and whilst that is true I'm running out of excuses for buying things to add to the forces whilst so much of it is unpainted. So, I'm using this opportunity to shame myself in public on this forum to try and motivate me to get all of this painted.

So, I'm going to set myself a challenge that I will attempt to meet. In the month of December I will attempt to paint all 2,500 points of Dwarf army. I have the inpiration for a painting scheme that I'm very excited about and that is usually the inspiration that I need. (I once painted 50 Orks on a weekend because I enjoyed the colour scheme so much) Can it be done? Probably not.

To give you an idea of how much of a challenge this is, I only have one thane painted with great weapon. (Any he was from a boardgame that it no longer in production and I painted him when I was eleven. He probably deserves a re-paint but first thing is first). My challenge mean that I will be painting:

- 1 Dwarf Lord on shield bearers
- 32 warriors with great weapons
- 1 Thane with shield
- 16 Miners (There's two command groups there so I might only paint 13)
- 28 Warriors with shields
- 1 Runesmith
- 17 Thunderers
- 16 Quarrelers
- 2 Cannons
- 1 Gyrocopter
- 1 Dragon slayer
- 1 Organ Gun
- 1 Grudge thrower
- 1 Engineer
- 5 Slayers

Seeing it all written down shows just how much of a task I'm setting myself but with my first target being to paint 10 warriors a day and starting tomorrow it would mean that the warriors would be done by Sunday. So I'll post an update on Sunday with my progress, I'll see how I get on. I'll keep everyone updated and hopefully pictures will follow. With a bit of luck I might get all this done and if that happens another army will be targeted for January.

If you think this is an idiotic target, then let me know that too.

Well week one is been and gone. I set myself the target of painting 60 warriors by today. Here's how I got on:

Monday: 10 painted
Tuesday: 1 painted
Wednesday: 9 painted
Thursday, Friday and Saturday: None painted.
Sunday: Just the silver done on ten warriors.

As I expected real life kinda got in the way as well as actually assembling the dwarfs with great weapons. I'm really happy with the color scheme and once I get them finished the warriors will make an appearance on this site. There certainly not top standard but I'm proud of them.

So, what's the plan going forwards?
Monday: Finish the ten warriors w/ great weapons (Taking that number to twenty inc full command)
Tuesday: 5 warriors with shields
Wednesday 10 warriors with great weapons
Thursday: 5 warriors with shields
Friday: None (it's my birthday so I'm out celebrating)
Saturday: 8 warriors with shield and 2 warriors w/ great weapons
Sunday: Dwarf Runesmith

I'm hoping to debut the dwarfs in a battle sooner rather than later. If that's this next weekend, I'll post hot I get on. I'd rather not field anything unpainted but that might leave me with a little short on points or troops and flexibility.

Just a quick update (although I'm not entirely sure that anyone is even reading these ).

My dwarfs with great weapons are done . That's 32 warriors with great weapons inc full command. I've also got 20 warriors with shields done. I think that;s a pretty solid core. Even though I'm not a great painter, I'm really proud of these warriors. Pics will go up soon.

I didn't manage to get a game in this weekend but there will definitely be one next week. So, I need to decide what to paint this week to add to the guys but I've got tickets for the Hobbit on Thursday, a wedding on Friday and my work Xmas party on saturday. I'm not sure what will get finished but whatever get's done, the update next sunday will detail it!
