Ok so gift of mutation makes you reroll Spawnhood and Dark Apotheosis. The other day I rerolled Dark Apotheosis , and got the same results.

Do I reroll until I get something different? Or keep the results?

Read it more carefully - you Roll Again. It is NOT a reroll, therefore the prohibition does not apply. Same as rolling for first turn - you roll again, as many times as is needed.

I would check an FAQ but with rerolling on commands with guard for orders the second result always sticks even if its worse

Please check the codex; it is sppecfically a roll again, not a reroll. The two are very different in 40k

say i have a IG Command squad ( we are assuming both have vox casters ) IG squad Rolls Double on his orders , the Vox caster lets you Re-roll Failed orders if your with in a distance i am correct so if i roll that result sticks , Same works Visa Versa . Thats out of the codex man

That's great, but the OP was talking about the Chaos codex and the 'boon table', Not about IG.

But since I don't play chaos I was making an educated guess based on what I knew , sorry bout that

So then, would rolling "Multiple Boons" with Gift of Mutation present the opportunity to apply Spawnhood/Dark Apotheosis?

GoM says that a direct roll of Spawn/Prince would cause you to roll again. But, if you roll "Multiple Boons" then you did not roll Spawn/Prince and "Multiple Boons" says to "re-roll."

The BYB says that the second result of a re-roll stays. So, if you rolled a 64 from GoM, then a 21-22/65-66, re-rolled and got a 65-66/21-22, then you should have to keep the Spawnhood/Dark Apotheosis result.

And then Boon of Mutation uses "re-roll" for Dark Apotheosis.

We already had a thread about this. It needs faq'd because it says re-roll and by the rule book a re-roll can only happen once. Cant re-roll a re-roll. Regardless of the source.

Not sure what you are referring to.

The Codex says "roll again" not "re-roll"
You can "Roll again" any number of times as they "new" rolls not "re-rolls"

Rolling again is VERY different from a Reroll.

The Order example given is a Reroll, which is completely different from the Boon of Mutation rule which is "Roll again".

Sorry, I was referring to what the OP mentions, gift of mutation, which is a "roll again" not the IG thing not sure why that is even brought up in this thread.

Essentially, if you are rollign ont he bon table BEFORE deployment (from gift of Mutation) you cannot roll a spawn/deamon prince result.

If you do, then keep rolling until you dont.

Took me 4 tries in my last game.

Boon 64!

I ran into this yesterday. Rolled for GoM for my Possessed champion. First roll: Spawn. Rolled again: DP. We called it as "roll again" as the result couldn't stand. 3rd roll: Time Vortex (can't recall the name exactly. The one that gives you Fleet). Possessed already have Fleet, but I had to keep that result.

yeah, it's annoying when you roll somethgin that makes no difference to the model.

For some reason i keep rolling the one that gives +1 strength to a ranged weapon for my terminator champion....who has a lightning claw and a chain fist.

Sometimes, that how Chaos works. I scored a +1 I on a power fist champion for his gift of mutation the other day. I laughed and cursed the Chaos Gods. They repaid me by making forget a Havoc squad.

It all works out in the end.

Its what makes the Chaos book fun for me. I hate to see what you guys do for fun...

I actually really like the Boon table. It adds a lot of character and randomness to what should be, imho, an army with random stuff happening due to chaos's influence.

and because it is so random i dont thik it is too OP either. although you will get the odd occurence of uber-ness (once saw a frneds sorcercer roll the "D3 more rolls" before deployment and end up with Instant Death melee attacks, +1 Toughness and +1 Strength. He already had the murder sword so it was pertty nasty.
