Hi,

Here's a mini I picked up off ebay in a brief wave of nostalgia. Many Dakkanaught's will remember old Arbaal the Easily Defeated, others won't. So here's how he appeared in WD#188 (when WD used to publish background/rules for new models on a regular basis )

Spoiler:

It's a shame really, as I think the concept of a Khorne Lord on a giant Flesh Hound will suit GW's current design trends. Anywho, here's my version:

The banner was made by using the scan of the WD and cleaning it up, then adjusting the size based on a quick measurement of the actual mini. I printed off a few, laminated them with an extra piece of paper beneath, so when I cut them out I'd have the front side protected by the matt laminate and the other just the plain paper. After some fiddling I decided to paint over the laminate, using the bottom as a guide as the scanned image didn't look quite right. I then painted the back of the banner in black and varnished both sides in Army Painter anti-shine Matt varnish. I wanted the banner to be as durable as possible and I think its worked out well.

I painted and varnished him in stages before attaching him to the base. I had to remove the bits of metal in between the Hound's claws for the best fit and green stuff between his legs and torso, but apart from that there's no modification to the original mini, aside from a little bending of the Hound's legs to get him to fit onto the base.

Thanks for looking

Great work!

This really kicked back some old memories. I used to love looking at this model as a kid!

Very nice work. Liking the subtle verdigris on the brass. I did a modern version of him myself using the DE Hydra. (really should get around to finishing it )

Good job on a classic mini.

Great stuff Grimtuff You should finish him asap

I was also thinking of how to convert him whilst putting him together, the Hydra body never occurred to me. I was thinking Mordheim's "The Caller" mini, with some greenstuff work and a few bits here and there, or maybe even the Manticore mini It's something I'd like to do but probably never will

Thanks for the comments y'all

That looks pretty cool bruv, you have really captured The Easily Defeated there! Odd, 'cos when I saw that mini last he wasn't on the base and that banner was nowhere in sight! Quick work dude....
