I was reading the rules for apocalypse and it say that they find it better to limit rules that affect the whole table to just a 72"range, but the only rule I can think of is the eldar farseer. Are there others? If its just them then it feels cheap to further nerf the oldest codex going.

Salamanders - 4500 pts
Hive Fleet Wendigo - 5000+ pts
Vampire Counts - 2500 pts Sold
Ogre Kingdoms - 4000 pts

I think the deathstrike should be left alone though.

Unlimited range is different than having an effect on the entire game.

By that logic nothing with an effect on the entire game exists.

Not true, see the Eldar runes, and necron Night fighting Etc.

Something about that acronym gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Though it might just be the plasma warhead.

Nah, the Vortex Missile Deathstrike is really what gets me going.

3 Vortex Deathstrikes let you remove 6 square feet of models AND terrain features.

No, they didn't. They had a longer range than they do now, though.

Originally, Psychic Hoods were the entire board. Then 5th edition codices changed them to be 24" and now they are simply projecting your psyker level for DTW.

On moon miranda.

There's also some stratagems, the Dark Eldar nightfight thing for example that makes the entire game nightfight (makes for all sorts of fun [not] when the one DE player at the table out of 12 people picks that). Though admittedly I haven't played Apoc in 6th with it's "we have nightfight EVERY GAME" fetish.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Better then 5th where only one deployment type had it.

At least now it features in every game so its something to actually plan with then something you could safely ignore like last edition.

Personally I don't see why it needs to be in every mission or why having it in only one mission in three was bad. For a competitive list, as much as one could you already had a reason to plan for it, but there's not a whole lot many armies can do to "plan" for it one way or the other regardless. Having every single battle be fought at dusk or dawn is rather odd.

As is, usually when it's not nightfight the first turn, nobody remembers it turn 5.

That said, I don't really like the 6E nightfighting rules themselves either, but that's another story

I agree the whole concept of fighting at dusk or dawn is rather silly, but that doesn't have to be all it represents. There could be stormclouds obscuring the sun(s)/moon(s), or giant clouds of smoke or fog rolling over the battlefield. There could be rain/snow/spores/precipitation. The actual cause could be anything really, but night is the way they chose to 'make it hard to see'.
Like most of the new setup rules, they are there to give you random games, and if you want you can discuss with your opponent about ignoring them.

@Grey Templar: That DOES sound like fun!

Before the GK codex came out, IG players would ally with the DH codex(only Ally rules in the game at that time) just to get an Inquisitor with the infinite psychic hood. And an extra unit of stormtroopers that were actually worth their points.
