Hey all, I'm quite new to the whole 'painting models properly' thing so these are my first attempts at painting something half-decent. Obviously not up to the standard of most of the stuff on here but any feedback or tips would be much appreciated. Sorry I had a few problems with the focus on my camera. Thanks a lot!

Looks great, all the more because the colour scheme is really nice as well. If this is how you start out now, imagine how you'll be after more painting

Yeah don't put yourself down, you say it's not as good as half the stuff on here, but on the same merit, it's better than the other half

Everyone has their own standards, seems like you have a very high attention to detail. Basing techniques are already interesting. I'm sure given new techniques, models to work with and practice it wont be long until you're producing some really impressive work.

For now these are still good, but keep at it and maybe then you'll be more happy. If my first models looked that good I'd have been happy haha.

Your basing and highlighting are pretty good right now. Next you might want to practice your free hand and read up on how to make better looking jewels. They're coming along nicely so far.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

I really like the color scheme. I'll second the comment that you're being way too hard on yourself. A whole army painted to this standard will look awesome on the battlefield.

Don't be hard on yourself, Eldar are a hard army to paint. You are doing good so far although you are relying a lot on drybrushing and hard lining for highlights. Try to find some videos on youtube that explain highligting and feathering. Practice those techniques on bigger models, like wraithlords. The good thing is that your paint is thinned and you are producing consistent results. Keep up the good work.

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

PM me if you are interested in Commission work.

Thanks guys, I'm new to the forum so didn't know much about what the usual standard is and didn't want to seem like I was trying to bat out of my league so to speak. I'll work on my highlighting etc and post some more things when I get them done!

They're a good start, and will get you stuff on the table.

As you practice you'll get neater, and you'll end up doing back-blended highlights (easier than blending toward the highlight), which'll make things a lot smoother looking.

Models look great though I would perhaps try and put some shading on the bases, other than that good work.

I have a blog, check it out - http://forthegloryofgorkandmork.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/tau-xv8-02-commander.html - brand new post 11/04/13
