Hello All

I am returning to WHFB (after a LONG time) and i am trying to decide on an army to build.

In the past I always played High Elves but this time i am looking to take a new direction and I have reduced my options to the following 2 armys

Orc and Goblin or Warriors of Chaos

I was hoping to get some opinions/input about the relative merits of both these armys

Well, from an OLDER O&G Player, ( a couple of editions ago)
O&G are a horde army, no real ifs, ands or buts about it. You're going to be painting alot of models, using alot of models, and having ALOT of fun. Animosity is probably the single best rule in the game for making the games hilarious. However, it's ALOT of models. Also, Gork&Mork magic is hilariously badass. Seriously, who doesn't want to stomp there opponents with a magical foot?

"I come in peace, I did not bring artillery. I'm pleading with you, tears in my eyes. **** with me and I'll kill you all." General Mattis, USMC

"Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet." General Mattis USMC

Cool welcome back! Next buy 3 boxes of savages, 2-3 boxes of black orcs, 2 boxes of goblins either night or vanilla (I like vanilla since they are rarer however NGs get netters and fanatics which are so good it's hard to pass up, and if you are playing right they should be in the Generals LD bubble anyway, if you go with NG grab a box of fanatics too), a BSB, a goblin/NG shaman and a savage orc shaman, also 2 trolls to use as single redirectors/chaff. This is a good start easily 1500-1850 depending on magic banners and mage levels 1-4 Great/Regular Shamans variety.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
-Alexis de Tocqueville.
