This just popped into my head, and as a prospective chain-fiction, doesn't really have any end goal in itself (I guess you could call it a non-serious chain-fiction)...just a small, frontier planet wherein characters (preferably, outcasts and wanderers) and races from all over the galaxy can indulge in nonsensical or random actions;basically, let ideas out regarding the setting in a stream of thought manner. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tortuga was a small planet, far from the centers of galactic power, officially claimed by both the Tau Empire and the Imperium, but its nature as backwater meant that neither really cared what happened on the planet. In any case, there wasn't much to claim, with a self-sufficient and mixed population of Humans, Eldar, and Tau living on a single, massive, continent amidst a vast sea. Feral Orks were known to stalk the mountainous spine and central desert of the continent, breeding a surprisingly cooperative rural population of Human, Eldar, and Tau farmers who farmed the rich coastal plains and provided the food and raw materials needed to sustain the planet's capital and only city - Shipwreck Cove. Shipwreck Cove was a rather unusual city, emphasized with its unusual mix of Imperial, Chaos, and Tau architecture. Even more so when one noted the Eldar and Tau ships landing or even resting alongside Imperial vessels at the starport, which was run by members of the Adeptus Mechanicus, who also ran the water-purification plant, the geothermal energy center, and waste-cleaning facilities. Or for that matter, the rather sizable Eldar community in the city's outskirts, and the Imperial and Chaos missions facing each other across a single street, complete with gargoyles and bits and pieces of Gothic architecture for the former, and worrisome runes and invectives against the 'Corpse God' for the latter. Together with the Tau Embassy in another part of the city, they made certain that riots, demonstrations, and rallies between pro-Imperial, pro-Chaos, and pro-Tau factions rather commonplace (surprisingly - or perhaps not - the red-light district was left untouched by all factions). Not that it bothered the city's rulers - a council of Humans, Tau, and Eldar all on the payroll of certain Rogue Traders and Corsair Princes who used their connections with the Imperial, Tau, and Eldar authorities to keep the planet under the radar. All in all, not a bad place to run off to...
