It's been a while since I last posted for my Android app for 40k lists where I mentioned I was working on an iOS version. Now it is ready for public consumption. I'm attaching here some screenshots. If you are familiar with the Android app, this one was mostly rebuilt with a better user interface and not needing to click so many times to select what you wanted.

What I need right now are people to help with beta testing. If you are interested, please PM me with your email address so that I can invite you as a beta tester. Please only do so if you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Note this was not designed for iPad and wouldn't fully utilize the larger screen yet. What I will offer in return is to continue using it for free after it is released to the App Store by releasing future updates to you directly. I will only do that for those that give at least some quality feedback while testing. The app should be the same price as the Android app at $1.75.

Assuming all goes well, I'm hoping to release to the App Store by early January.

Where do you get the data files?

In case you weren't aware, Battlescribe is available for iOS and works pretty well. Most people are only turned off by how you have to setup the data files (usually a one-time setup thing - at least it was for me). I should note this isnt a manually enter data thing, its point it at the website of your choosing deal, so its pretty easy in my opinion.

While I don't doubt people would pay for a better/easier version, your competition is a free app with most of the main negative being a one-time setup thing. Its going to be hard to beat that unless this is also free and/or easier to setup/easier to use.

There is a direct link to an external data file manager within the app. You can also link to any url that has a data file.

Battlescribe's free version is ad supported. No ads is $3. This one will be about $1.75 and no ads. This is the same setup as in the Android market.

Probably work

Army Builder is $40/year as opposed to Battlescribe, and people still buy that.

EDIT: Redacted question already answered.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Actually, I do have another question: Do you guys (speaking generally to anyone who writes a list building app) actually seek legal advice before releasing with this "external data file" link thing, or are you just following Army Builder's lead here? On that note, was there actually anyone who adopted this method prior to AB doing it?

I mean, I get how the whole "external file" business limits legal liability, but I see that going out the window whenever you provide direct access to the file in the application, such as AB or here, especially with all of the crazy lawsuits that go on around just providing links to copyrighted material. It just seems like you're trying to keep from shooting your foot off, only to turn around and deliberately ricochet the bullet off of a wall to catch your toes.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to criticize. I'm no lawyer, and I represent no interested parties in the matter, just really curious.
