Hello everyone :
This is basically my first serious attempt at an army list. what i am trying to aim for is hopefully a pretty balanced army where the different units can support each other and face different foes with the same army composition.
This army is mainly based on units that i already possess for i have quite a restricted budget at the moment. The armys that i am most often going to be playing against are 1500 point dark eldars, necrons, tau, orks and tyraanid.
I would be really happy of for advice that you could provide me with even but i must warn you that i happen to be playing with the french sm codex and rulebook so if i miss spell any units please let me know and for the same reason i would be gratefull if you could avoid shortcutting unit names and speciall rule names, stats, ect...
HQ : 1 chapter master with a small amount of options
Troupes : 1 tactical squad of 10 soldiers with flamme thrower and missile launcher ( can be devided into 2 combat groupes)
1 scout squad of 5 scout with shotguns + heavy bolter
1 scout squad of 4 snipers + sergeant tellion
Transport : 2 drop pods
1 rhino
Elite : 1 terminator unit (5 terminators with fullgurants)
Fast attack : 1 basic assault unit
heavy support : 1 land raider with laser canons
1 devastator unit
Total : approximatly 1400 points
I was thinking about putting the last 100 points into a dreadnaght or some fast attack
I figured i needed some heavy firepower, i already have a land raider but do you think i should buy devastators or something else ? do i have enough troops or should i add some more ?
Please let me know of any spelling/translating mistakes and i will do my best to correct them.

what is it that the terminators are armed with? other than that it seems like a balanced list, and with those last points you could try investing in a stormtalon

The terminators have the basic terminator guns i'm not sure what they are called their profil is 24inches force4 armor penetration5 assault 2
Thanx : ) i was actually born in engalnd but i have spent the last 13 years in france and am losing my english pretty bad lol
I had thought a bit about the stormtalon but i can't find it's stats or point cost anywhere, they seem to have only appeared in a white dwarf issue that i do not possess also their weaponry seems a lot less impressive than the other army's planes (my brother has a necron plane that can actually cut my land raider in half Oo)
I also quite like the look of the thunderfire canon but it costs practically 50 euros in the shops lol

those would be stormbolters, and the stormtalon is quite good, 130pts with heavy bolters, 150 with lascannons, and 160 with skyhammers or typhoons iirc

that's actually quite good point wise i might look into it XD
Anyway thanks for your opinion i was a bit worried that my army list was too shallow but i am reassured now.
... by the way can anyone tell me what on earth vanilla marines is supposed to mean ?

What kind are your termies? If they are assault termies definetly put the in your land raider (this works best with LR Crusader with multi-melta upgrade). Maybe spend your last 100 pts on a chaplain and put him in the LR with your termies to make them pretty hard to kill with all the chaplain's close combat boosting rules. Also vanilla marines just means space marines in general, not like he ones with special codexes like Black Templars.

Vanilla Marines are the basic Codex: Space Marines, without any Vampire, Werewolf, or emo mixed into it.
Chapters like the Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, etc. Codex Adherents that don't have hugely different organization and doctrines.
Also, where are you getting all the transports? You may only have 1 per tactical / devastator squad.
Scouts can't purchase any dedicated transport options, for example.
You can only have one option for the Tactical Squad, not one for each combat squad.
Well, I guess it might fit, if you are dropping the jump packs from the Assault Squad.
You should (if you are able) give the Terminators a Cyclone Missile Launcher or a Assault Cannon, depending on how your tastes are. CMLs are my prefered option, since they give Strength 8 shots or anti-horde frag missiles.
If you are going against Necrons or Dark Eldar on a regular basis, you may find that your Land Raider is a bad choice. With the Gauss Weaponry / Lances that are in their respective armies, they may be able to kill it fairly quickly. You'd almost be better off with two Predators or two Vindicators for your heavy weaponry, as, while not having as much hull points or armour, they can individually pack a small punch, and isn't something they can kill all of with one lucky round of Gauss shooting or a good lance hit.
What weapons are you running on the Devastators? Missile Launchers?
What are your options on the Chapter Master? If you don't know the english translation, just describe what they do. (like if it gives you a 2+ armour save, or a reroll to wound, etc.)

sorry for not answering sooner i've been kinda busy lately
I had just assumed that the scouts could use drop pods because of them being troops but looking more carefully at the codex you're right, thanx for noticing it :-)
As for the land raider you're also right, it usually gets destroyed by 2nd/3rd turn and looses weapons and mobility way before that.
I'm not very good at doing my own list, it doesn't seem half as awesome now as it did before lol, plus it would cost me quite a bit, especially as my aim is to use a maximum amount of the units i already possess
At the moment i am in possession of 2 black reach starter box sets which basically means :
2X chapter masters
2X ten man tacticall squads with flamethrower and rocket launcher
2X dreadnaughts with dreadnaught mele weapon and stormbolter
2X five man terminator squads with stormbolter
I don't have any weapon replacement options for any of the black reach set units
I also have 1 Land raider crusader/redeemer, 1 five man assault squad with jetpacks, 2 drop pods, 1 scout box set not yet assembled with shotgun, bolter, combat blades, and heavy bolter options
What i mainly like about space marines is their mobility, their resistance and the big range of units and equipment to chose from. I love exotic units in a varied army(if that makes ay sense) and really dislike highly specialised army's like the white scars, the salamanders and such probably because i find them too repetitive (no offence for white scars and salamanders, it's the army's composition that i personally don't like playing with, the chapter's themselves are awesome)
Frankly i have no idea what to do with what i've got so sorry for being a big noob and any advice is truly welcome

Cybergoat: If money is an issue, you can usually pick up realy cheap used space marines on ebay for pennies on the dollar, especially if you're willing to strip them of paint.
Just soak old metal models in gasoline overnight (outside of course), and scrub with an old toothbrush. Cheap option for HQs or special characters, plus they're more durable and less problematic than the finecast
For old plastic models use a watered down solution of simple green, soak for a bit, and then again scrub with an old toothbrush.
Alternatively, if the paint is thin on the model just do a couple of coats of thin black primer or spray coat them and you're good to go
Example: I recently purchased 30 tactical marines with a variety of special weapons options for $12 American, with shipping. The paint was poorly done but thin, so I just painted over it. Bam! 3 tac squads for under $15  Got a used Metal TFC for $30 the same way (highly recommended unit)
The same is true with most other units just be patient and bid low and you can get around GW's prices if you're willing to put in some elbow grease.
