---------------------------TURN 1---------------------------

Doomshaper hears a rumbling in the distance, not unlike a landslide in the mountains... but they are travelling in the plains. Quickly, he sends forward his two units of scouts before following up with his warbeasts behind. The skin-hardening aura of the krielstone that a loyal trollblood is hauling into battle is not yet needed, and Janissa and the scribes run along with the beasts.

The Butcher has surrounded himself with his sturdiest machines of war, the heaviest of which have been thundering ahead of his two units of Man-O-Wars. He sends a command to their cortexes to pause and wait for the entire force to catch up, while he bids one unit of Man-O-Wars to make their flesh harder than that of iron. A horde of savages has been glimpsed by his Marksmen on the right flank, and his Manhunter on the left. It is time to draw the battle lines...

---------------------------TURN 2---------------------------

Doomshaper needs no invitation to call his followers to war; indeed he rarely pauses for breath without doing so. Yet in this case something about the steel wall in front of his beloved Dire Trolls, hard as rock their own flesh may be, causes him to take caution. Several scouts willingly sacrifice their lives to buy time for their larger kin. The krielstone bearer invokes the aura of stone and bids their flesh to become like that of his heavy burden. Janissa Stonetide lives up to her name and calls forth the rocks of the plain to create a wall, while the Doomshaper casts the animus of the Earthborn to even further boost the armor of the other Dires. Then he waits to see what the iron and steel monsters will attempt...

The Butcher likewise is cautious, waiting to see what the larger behemoths will do. His Man-O-Wars easily dispatch the few savages in their way. The Marksman begins to take his toll, after the first troll he spied had stood back up. And the Berserker, Manhunter, and Yuri close in on the flank of the largest of the enemy beasts. He bids the Man-O-Wars again to become like iron to protect against any missiles of the enemy, rudimentary though they may be, and to form the center of his line. They dig in and brace for the moving Mountain that approaches...

---------------------------TURN 3---------------------------

The time has come for Dhunia's rage to be unleashed, but all the same Doomshaper's focus is not what it once was. Before he can marshal his forces, half the remaining scouts fling themselves upon the iron-fleshed Man-O-Wars, trying to accomplish up close what their axes cannot do from afar and to avenge their lost kin. The Mountain King likewise lunges forward, but too soon! A handful of brave Man-O-Wars cast themselves under his thundering feet and stop his advance well short, despite his Wild Aggression. A roar of anger rings out, taking another Man-O-War with it, but it will not be enough.

Doomshaper recovers his wits, and gives his remaining beasts a boost of speed to reach their targets. He bids his Earthborn forward to dispatch one of the twin Juggernauts, and calls it back to Refuge before sending in the remaining scouts to shield it from harm. The Mauler charges the Berseker on the flank but digs his claws into the ground with his initial swipes, falling a hair short of dispatching his target. Janissa and Yuri tangle in the woods, but her attack also goes wide. Many foes have fallen, but there are too many left...

Butcher's vengeance is swift and nigh unstoppable. The Kodiak on the right flank, and the remaining Man-O-Wars in the center easily dispatch the scouts struggling to hold them back. The Berserker brings the Mauler within an inch of death before the Manhunter delivers the killing blow on the left flank. But there remains a Mountain of a beast in the center, and only Butcher is up to the task...

Unleashing a devastating battle cry, Butcher leaps forward into the breach. Single handedly, he brings the moving Mountain down, while the pieces he chops off get up and begin to walk and stumble around on their own in the midst of the beast's death throes. Battle lust is in his eyes, and victory feels near at hand. He roars a challenge for the hobbling old troll commanding the savages to come forward and face him alone.

---------------------------FINAL TURN---------------------------

Surprisingly, Doomshaper answers the Butcher's challenge. His grief over the loss of his brother, born out of the very side of a mountain of Dhunia, is too great to bear. Blindly he charges forward, swinging wildly, failing to damage the butcher. His eyes widen as he realizes he has put himself in the midst of his enemies, with his kin dead all around him, and the remaining pieces of the Mountain King helpless whelps at his side.

Suddenly, the Earthborn charges in to his aid, narrowly skirting past the remaining Juggernaut to come face to face with the Butcher. It seems Doomshaper subconsciously cast his own Wild Aggression onto his last Dire Troll. The Earthborn's fists form massive axes as it acquires the Butcher's incredible power as his own. He brings down several thundering swings with his axe-fists, missing at first, and then striking home. The Butcher is mortally wounded and forced to retreat, and his constructs all around Doomshaper power down or fall back in disorder. Doomshaper remains surrounded by the remnants of the king of the mountain and mourns his losses, while thanking Dhunia for allowing him to continue the fight he was destined for.

Battle reports like this is why I love warmahordes over 40k any day. The tide of the game can flip on a dime. Great report and the minis look cool.

Awesome batrep. Fear the butcher.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

If you couldn't kill a Colossal with a charging Butcher on full focus on the feat turn, something's wrong.

It was actually my first time facing the Butcher or first time in a long time, not sure. Either way, I was surprised, and lucky to pull it out afterwards!

Many a Cryx jack have falled to the Butcher. But a blood thristy butcher is often a dead butcher when he over commits.

Nice turn around. Fantastic batrep.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!
