I thought i would try my hand at a mini-tally list for the 1k tournament coming up. So without further ado, here it is:

HQ
Epidemius 110
Troops
Plaguebearers (5) 75
Plaguebearers (5) 75
Fast Attack
Screamers (6) 150
Allies
HQ

Daemon Prince 280
Daemon of Nurgle, Wings, Power Armor, Combat Familiar, The Black Mace
Troops
Chaos Cultists (10) 70
Mark of Nurgle
Heavy Support
Havocs (5) 140
Three Autocannons, One Missile Launcher, Mark of Nurgle, Veterans of the Long War
Fortification
Aegis Defense Line 100
Quad Gun

(Keep in mind we will be paying on a 4x4 board for 1k point games) Now if you do notice, i have a 280 point ally HQ. It seems weird, but he will be the primary beatstick to get the tally up extremely quickly. Plan is to place the aegis near half field, and deploy the HQ DP as far up the field as i can. He has shrouded, so putting him behind the aegis will give him a 2+ cover, 3+ armor, and 5+ invuln so he won't die from enemy shooting. Then the turn epi comes in (turn two at the latest hopefully), the DP will fly up and charge the nearest squishy unit. Now keep this in mind. three auto cannons plus a missile launcher plus a quad gun in the backfield to rack up somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-7 kills of squishy things in the first turn epi is on. Then we get to the DP. He has one hammer of wrath, 6 attacks on the charge plus d6 for the mace (average of 9.5 attacks by himself), all hitting at WS9 S6 I8 ignoring armor, then he also gets to make two extra s4 ap-hits for the combat familiar. Then every enemy in 3" of him makes a toughness test or takes a wound with no saves of any kind allowed. I'm thinking that's going to rack up enough points to get the tally to 15 easy if i face a blob list. Now all of his attacks are wounding on a 2+, most likely re-rolling, as well as the combat familiar wounding on a 2+.

This would work best if charging fearless mobs, most likely orks or tyranids, possibly some other units. Other than that i have three tough as nails scoring units once the tally gets up to 15 (which it should pretty damn quickly). That coupled with three auto-cannons and a missile launcher and a quad providing a lot of high strength (and once the tally gets up to 20) armor-ignoring fire support. The aegis will give the cultists a 2+ cover to survive and hold an objective. The screamers are there to take out any vehicles sitting in the backfield trying to pick off my DP and also heavily armored units that have a good invuln.

What do you guys think? I'm thinking that if i go up against orks, tyranids, guard, or any other blob army that i will get the tally to 20 on turn 3 or 4 at the latest. If I'm not facing a blob army, the DP is still extremely effective and the screamers can hopefully help out as well as the havocs.

I'm actually considering using this list in the local tourney sunday, and would love your feedback. I know for a fact there will be at least three tyranid players as well as at least two ork players. IG I don't see as that much of a threat but I'm trying to think of what else would be good against the list.

Let me know what you think,

This list looks very doable. The only problems I can think of you could face is that in 1000 pnt games, some armies don't have enough models to get the tally up. Another problem are the cultists, who are in a squad with only 10 models. Just a few of them have to be killed in order to let them run away off the table as they are not fearless

The problem i see is that the army lacks punch, aside from the prince and the screamers, none of the remaining units are especially terrifying.

It would rely on getting into melee ASAP, and for smart screamer placement.

I like the idea, but I think this might be a 1500+ strategy.

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

I would try replacing the prince with its cheaper chaos daemons equivilant and using a Nurgle Lord as your ally

Yeah i playtested this list today and it honestly was not as effective as i thought it was going to be. The tally just isn't effective at 1k. Especially if there is anything in the army that can deal with the DP reasonably. I'm losing the tally altogether, losing the havocs and gaining skulltaker and flamers and screamers. Here is the updated list:
HQ
Skulltaker 160
Chariot of Khorne
Elites
Flamers of Tzeentch (6) 138
Troops
Plaguebearers (5) 75
Plaguebearers (5) 75
Fast Attack
Screamers (7) 175

Allies
HQ
Daemon Prince 265
Daemon of Tzeentch, Wings, Power Armor, The Black Mace
Troops
Chaos Cultists (10) 50
Fortification
Aegis Defense Line 50
